Please have a 'LIKE' to everyone of the above posts - I love this club.
My old man's a Geordie (I know) so my first few games were going with him to watch Newcastle - he still takes the p*ss out of me for distancing myself from him when he started shouting 'Howay the Lads' in the Tottenham end at WHL (I was seven years old FFS and I'd do the same now)
Luckily I was born in The Black Country and from early-mid '70's I started going as a young kid with my mates to a proper club.
My first memories were a bit later than above but generally involved being crushed against a barrier while pissed-up adults (probably including those above

) surged from the top of the Brummie towards us. Sounds dangerous but it was exhilarating and in those days the Brummie was the place to be - the songs and chants were deafening, the ground was rammed, the team was good and soon became awesome.
I know seating was necessary but it's killed the atmosphere. It's just not the same and safe standing is the way forward - I hate sitting to watch football.
Long live The Brummie. Many Happy Returns (and get terracing back)
