My vote for next manager goes to Paul Jewell, who is according to wiki unemployed. He has considerable good experience, is passionate and motivational and would rally the troops. Thoughts anyone?

i think its rampant speculation that powell wasnt using academy graduates is what got him fired
i think 15 wins in 58 games and the reluctance to take a risk every now and again when on top was more the likely reason

I'm pretty certain he was sacked because the club was losing support which means income was down.
Powells brand of football had already turned supporters away from attending by the end of last season and with every game that passed he lost more and more of the fans. I think the club could see the writing on the wall...defeat to Leeds on Saturday and the manager would be in the same position as Mark Robins v Bournemouth at the start of last season...no support what so ever

I wouldn't take any of the has-beens that are currently out of work, half have been linked with Town before and gone elsewhere and done xxxx all, lets go for the Johnny Foreigner, fresh ideas like not smoking at half time, and knock the pint of beer for breakfast on the head as well...how'd you like them apples

I partly agree with you Wakey and others that it was the football, but Powell wasn't responsible for a total and utter bunch of clowns that set the match day prices and are also driving people away. £38 for the last home match??? Who dreamt that one up? We met one guy walking away from the ground in disgust who had taken two busses to get there. He only had £30 and change left in his pocket and was off back home in disgust. We offered him the extra change but he wouldn't have it. Another supporter lost.
If the 'special offer' isn't/wasn't going too well for Saturday's match before Powell got the push, who's fault is that? Some folk won't come because it is Leeds and don't want the potential hassle. Others don't want to be on Town's database and why should they? So no encouragement at all for walk-up fans most of the time. BBC now on the Wagner bandwagon - oops, just checked again - now done and dusted. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34733422

Took me a little while to find this but .... Hoyle probably said this as a nudge to Powell back in August.
http://www.examiner.co.uk/sport/football...an-9882607 Specifically - Young players like Kyle Dempsey and Jordy Hiwula have been bought to develop because the club’s own Academy is not producing for the first team at the moment. Mind you, in almost the same breath he said this too - “With Alex Smithies, if he agrees terms, then the deal we negotiated hard up to near £2m will provide money to be reinvested. “The revolving door policy will never stop. We have to have player transfers to ease the financial burden, but as long as we keep on reinvesting at the same time then that’s good for the club."

This appointment reminds me of when we got Lee Clark, relatively unknown young and hungry to succeed.
I'm quite excited that this could lead to improvements throughout the club

One difference being Wakey that Clark hadn't managed anyone at that point. He was learning on the job.
Dortmund II got relegated last season playing front foot attacking football. OK German second clubs cant get higher than the division they were in, meaning players move on for success if you dont get into the first team squad, but he's really no more succesful than most UK lower league coaches that have had teams promoted in the past. Newcastle, West Ham, WBA to some extent got relegated from the Prem doing the same. If losing 4-3 is as acceptable as winning 4-3 every week, and I still expect us to lose more than we win for this season at least, then crack on Mr. Hoyle. It will be interesting to hear what you have to say if we are in the bottom 3 at Easter but scoring goals and still unable to defend. I hope we aren't, but we could be. A balance is required. Better football than we were playing is easy to ask for. There's another manager and his squad that we have to play against each week who will only let you do that up to a point. Plus it only works successfully if you've someone upfront that knows where the onion bag is. I hope Hoyle has been working on this for a few months. His comment before setting on Powell was that he would be patient and wait for the right man. Powell was identified in less than a week. It took a month or so before it was all settled but that was typical of Dean Hoyle being patient. Setting this guy on a day after Powell was shown the door makes you think what was going around the club last week. I wish him well. I've supported Town for donkeys and I still will do when Hoyle and Wagner are gone. Rant over, 3 pts please Mr. Lillis.

If you want my honest opinion on this new guy is that he is a 'yes man' and that's why he's been employed, if Hoyle and Clibbens think they can field a load of academy recruits and shoot in the Championship, they are deluded, it still needs finical investment. I also think that there is too much interference in footballing matters from the boardroom, they need to leave him too it and also they need to let him buy a striker.
