Shown for a fool and suddenly it's all about football.

Rangers may have missed out on promotion but they've never been relegated.

You were relegated to the bottom division when liquidated

Football in Scotland was plunged into chaos yesterday when Rangers were relegated into the Third Division following a vote by Scottish Football League chairmen at Hampden Park.
In the most dramatic day in the 122-year history of the SFL, 25 of the 30 member clubs rejected pleas from the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football Association to show leniency to the Rangers "newco" and only demote them one division.
Instead, in a huge rebuff that has potentially massive ramifications, the SFL took the decision to relegate Rangers three divisions, and risk the "armageddon" that the SPL chief executive, Stewart Regan, had warned would follow such an action.

You boys are confusing demotion with relegation - one based on results (or lack of them) on the pitch, the other not related to results on the pitch.

However, Rangers were excluded from one company - the SPL - and accepted into the third tier of another - the SFL.

No relegation for us, not ever.

Keep trying, as ever, your best is yet to come.

Keep trying worthy. The sfl took the decision to relegate Rangers 3 divisions - fact- where does that show on Yer "history". You should count yourselves lucky that you got into the 3rd tier as sfl rules state that prospected joining clubs must produce 2 years of audited accounts to become members- something that the liquidated Rangers could not provide

By the way Worthy, you ain't answered the question, you bought your season ticket yet for the forthcoming season?

No it absolutely does not.

Quote:demote
verb

Move (someone) to a lower position or rank, usually as a punishment

Unless you know better than the piffling, irrelevant, no-ones-ever-heard-of-before Oxford English Dictionary. Doh

Neither of you would know a fact if it slapped you in the face.

Rangers were ejected from the SPL after the member clubs voted for a refusal to transfer the share from one owner to another.

Rangers were accepted into the SFL via a vote of their members.

There was no mechanism available to "relegate" any club other than the one finishing bottom of the SPL. Rangers didnt finish bottom.

As for the stupid season ticket question - i live in sussex, the logistics and costs involved in travelling to Ibrox for all home games are beyond me. My brother has two season tickets however and my son and i make use of those when we travel to Glasgow. You'll find some pics of the view from those seats - halfway line, club deck - on another thread.

Can you explain how the SFL could relegate a club that wasn't in the SFL?

Can you also explain how a league body that was constituted of 3 divisions could relegate a club 3 divisions without expelling them?

I'll take the word of the Oxford English Dictionary, thanks very much. You know, they're the people that matter. And they're not American.
