Grimsby Town have signed defender Reece Staunton on a two-year contract from Spennymoor Town.

Staunton moves to Blundell Park on a free transfer from the National League North club.

The 24-year-old played in the EFL for Bradford City after coming through their academy, before dropping down into non-league.

"I'm buzzing to be here and it's something I've dreamt of for the last three years, coming back to the EFL," Staunton told the club's website.

He is Grimsby's second summer signing, following that of Altrincham forward Justin Amaluzor.

Former Bradford City forward Jamie Walker has joined Grimsby Town on a two-year contract.

Walker left Bradford after helping the Bantams secure promotion to League One and having scored 19 goals in 125 games for them.

Now the former Scotland Under-21 player, 32, moves to Blundell Park to a side who finished ninth last season in the fourth tier.

"I know what the league brings and what you need to be successful at this level, so hopefully I can bring that in abundance and help the team on the pitch," Walker told the Grimsby website, external.

Grimsby Town have signed Leyton Orient full-back Jayden Sweeney on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old will join the Mariners on Tuesday when his deal with the O's expires.

Sweeney first joined the London side at the age of seven and made 60 league appearances for Richie Wellens' men.

"He's someone that we've had our eyes on for quite a while, so we are delighted that he's chosen us," Grimsby boss David Artell told the club website.

Grimsby Town have signed Truro City forward Jaze Kabia for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old Irishman scored 16 goals as the Cornish side won the National League South title last season.

"We've got a bright, young player, who we feel has a good chance to make a big impact in league football," Mariners boss David Artell told the club website., external

"We are hopeful he'll score a lot of goals for us, and we are excited for him to join up with the group."

Grimsby Town have signed former Blackburn Rovers midfielder Zak Gilsenan on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old was a free agent after leaving Rovers at the end of his contract.

He made five appearances for the Championship side and scored on his senior debut against Walsall in the Carabao Cup in August 2023.

"He's a really good player with a lot of potential, excellent on the ball and we are really excited to start working with him," Mariners boss David Artell told the club website.

Grimsby Town have signed former Mansfield Town goalkeeper Christy Pym on a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old was a free agent after leaving the Stags earlier this summer.

Pym began his career with Exeter City, playing more than 150 league games for the Grecians, before spending four years at Peterborough and then joining Mansfield.

He won promotion to the Championship with Posh in 2020-21 and was part of the Stags team that went up from League Two in third place in 2023-24.

"He's a winner who knows how to get out of this league and we hope he'll be a real pivotal signing for us," boss David Artell told the club website.
