The fee for Zohore is nowhere near £ 8 million, to reach that figure he will have to score plenty of goals and we would have been promoted
"To reach [£8m], Zohore must make a set number of appearances, score a set number of goals, and help the club win promotion."
Glad to hear that. Zohore is a good player on his day but hasn't shown he's worth that much. If he reaches those targets it'll be money well spent. #wba
Heard that nyom is close to completing a permanent move to Getafe

I'm trying to get my head around the reasoning behind signing Zohore ?
He must be our Rondon replacement - lead the line - hold the ball up - something we were missing last year.
He has certainly not come to score goals aplenty, but will be expected to reach double figures.
This still leaves a position for a poacher / more prolific scorer still to come in, I wait to see how the plan unfolds.
We can but wait and see what other guys we can entice to the shrine.
Summary - afforable CF with more prolific scorer / scorers still to come.

Regarding Gayle, we have to remember the circumstances at Newcastle have changed since we had him on loan.
Ayoze Perez sold, Rondon is not going back and most importantly, they have had a change of manager.
So even if the tight arses that run out club decided to pull their fingers out, it's feasible he will not be loaned or sold this summer.
As for Zohore, he would be nowhere near the top of the list of strikers I'd want based on what I've seen of him. Just looked like a lanky lumbering oaf to me. But hey, I've only seen him 4-5 times so I hope i'm wrong.
Given how much we have seen incoming on fees, I'd have liked us to push the boat out for someone like Baghdad Bounedjah. We need a proven goalscorer.

The problem with Bounedjah is his prolific record is in the Qatar League. Moving to the other side of the world to play in a much superior league might be too steep for him. Also he’s only scored once in the AFCON in a team that has Mahrez, Feghouli, Belaïli and Bennacer in it.
It’s a good shout but the money he’d cost might not be worth it.

It would certainly carry some element of risk. But from what I've seen, it would be a gamble that would excite me.
Despite the lack of goals in the AFCON, he's looked a threat and able to create something out of nothing.
For strikers coming from inferior leagues, I usually think most failures are when they can't handle the physical side. From what I've seen of Bounedjah is that he has plenty of pace and power.
Although admittedly, his club form isn't really something that can be taken into account.
I guess he's a star in the Qatari league anyway and probably a high earner. Which probably makes it even more of a gamble as he wouldn't come cheap.

I'm guessing but the biggest issue with Gayle would be his Salary. We only paid half of his salary it last year (£30k/wk) so without a Rondon bargaining chip we would have to pay all his salary that's £60K a week ? That's almost 4 times the cost of Zahore's salary.
£60K a week in the PL with a £100 million cheque from league is perfectly acceptable, but not in the EFL

It wouldn't matter how much we were willing to pay him if they don't want to let him go.
Obviously Rafa didn't rate him, but Rafa is gone. The only 2 forwards they have at the club now are him and Muto, who scored 1 goal last season.
IMO it would make complete sense if they chose to keep him. They would need to make 2-3 acquisitions to justify letting him go. Bruce might well rate him.
Albeit, I know we probably wouldn't pay the wage anyway.

Matt Wilson at express and star just confirmed Semi Ajayi as a target and was pulled out of Rotherham's freindly tonight !!
#wba are indeed keen on #rufc defender Semi Ajayi (hat tip to @reluctantnicko). If it gets done it would be a great piece of business in my opinion, was very impressed when I saw him last season.
