Definitely got an Owzthat from the shop at New Road when I was about 12.

Me and my brother had dozens of (little plastic) cowboys, indians, soldiers, farm animals, etc.

We'd play cricket sat on the carpet with them (Animals v Men) using a Subuteo ball with matches for the stumps; and the batsman (eg me holding a horse) would attempt to score boundaries (ie hitting the settee or the walls) off my brother's underarm delivery from about 5ft away. We even registered the scores in a Cricket Scorebook which included the bowlers' stats. (They all had their individual bowling actions - fast, leg spin, etc).
(I think) it was 5-aside, so we'd position the 4 fielders tactically. If the batsman hit the ball but it hit a fielder (eg a cowboy) he was out 'caught'. If a batsman (eg me with my little zebra) consistently used his hand too much he was given a warning...or he'd be 'Out'.

Quite sad, eh?

SAFT, that's brilliant.
I used to do the same sort of thing, but my brother wasn't remotely interested in sport so I always had to play both sides at once. Even sadder!

And now I remember it - endless hours of Frustration! (Some will know what I mean.)
I still have it in its original box (price sticker says 12/6, from WH Smith in Tunbridge Wells). Youth groups still love it.

I’m pretty sure I still have mine somewhere.

And yes, most of us seem to be of a certain age!

These posts have been brilliant, a real trip down amnesia lane!
As someone in his mid 60s, I’m guessing I have a lot of crossover with everyone else but, for what it’s worth, my top five would be:
Subbuteo
Corgi and matchbox cars
Monopoly (my parents always groaned when I brought that out)
Airfix models
A plastic football (if you could get a Frido make, you were made up)

We used to play Owzat by scraping the paint off the sides of two pencils - one for batting, one for bowling. It seemed to work Smile
