Reading were a league below at the time, they did win promotion that season though. Seem to remember the Reading keeper playing a blinder to keep us out in the 0-0 draw.

Probably not Marco, think he could have still been at Chelsea then.

Reading Board meeting minutes from Monday.

'That was a crap result on Saturday - Brum couldn't rub two goals together in a single match not long ago. Who've we drawn in the cup again?'

'Huddersfield away'

'Oh crap! Better sack the manager then if we want a result in that one. Works for everyone else in this division'

'Miss Smith, would you ask Mr. Adkins to come to the boardroom please?'

And they've given the job to Steve Clarke, just a day after Adkins was sacked.
Now Deano. That's the way it's done. Get your replacement lined up before you make a snap decision and leave us rudderless for weeks on end.

He'd made the decision on Powell about a month before Powell actually took over. Just took a while to agree the small print stuff, back room staff and all the other crap that goes on with contracts - especially when it comes to bullet time which for a football manager is about as certain as death and taxes.

Good to see Reading taking their time to consider all the options available to them. There will be a few letters sitting in the bottom of post boxes tonight with applications in them that will go straight on the yule tide log fire when they arrive in Reading.
