The way I look at this is we sign him we then know we can sell if we need to for double the price. But time will tell. As for this season for me it has to be ended now as there are to many risks involved with the players health being a priority.  It only needs one player to catch this virus through playing football and it opens up all sorts of liability cases.I want it to continue for selfish reasons that I miss the buzz of attending with my Granddaughter but it’s only right for me that there is no more football until it is virtually guaranteed that it is safe.

Hi M8, I'm guessing about Pereira - I thought the Blues game was the transfer trigger point? And of course without promotion we may not have the cash to buy him. We are all playing the waiting game.

Playing games is a problem even behind closed doors, more questions then answers. With liability cases you rightly highlight can clubs risk a player catching Covid ? It could in theory kill, or end a players career - the costs could be many millions of pounds. I can't see any insurance company covering the risk like they do for a broken leg.

The Covid issue has many problems for the fans, again more questions then answers for all of us.
With recent news that some children have been identified as catching a severe reaction to the virus and rumours that we can catch it more then once is more worrying. Until we get some positive news I cannot see large gatherings being allowed for a long time.
The PL can survive without fans but as for the rest of clubs its a big problem.
I wouldn't personally be putting my family at risk to watch a game of football. My son feels more strongly then me. A) he doesn't want to catch it and pass it on to his family B) He is worried about the potential lung damage that some have been left with. A friend of his had it a few weeks ago and even a short walk leaves him short of breath and tired (and he's in his 20's and didn't need hospital treatment) and was fit before. They both played amateur footy (both were at a pro club academy for a few years but neither were lucky or good enough to make the step up) so both are reasonably fit guys. But when he's sees how it has effected a friend he's not keen on getting it.

I'm locked down and not seen my family this year, which doesn't sit well with me. But what can you do.
I'm allowed out twice a day to walk the dog.

I have been busy helping some of the older generation, getting them food and sorting finances out. Although I'm locked down you can do a lot with a mobile and laptop. You would be surprised how many older people don't have wi-fi / PC's or Mobile phones.
Sadly I have missed several fund raising events and the local smaller charities are really suffering. My lads local food bank manager actually caught the virus and passed away.

It's about time we voted for our player of the season.
Here is a shock for you.
I give my vote to JAKE - he has been our most consistent performer this season (he is still not my ideal captain)
Mentions for Pereira - Diangana - Ajayi - Sawyers who have had excellent seasons, but Jake gets my vote.

Anyway stay safe and will we see what the future brings.

Update on Periera express and dingle state that Periera is a done deal, but because no one knows when the season will end, so we have agreed with Sporting to delay the first payment until it is decided which league we are in or after the season ends. Periera has agreed the deal.

Could our fans do something similar, if the season resumes in the future?

The one for Beefy would take up the Woodman Corner!

Talking of Beefy, hope he's ok - haven't 'heard' from him for a month. Sad
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with

The EFL have confirmed that in the event of the season being ended with no further matches, promotion and relegation will stand in all three leagues.

As it should, null and void is not an option imo.

Yep. Obviously I'm not especially objective about this, but it would have been the height of absurdity to declare seven and a half months of football redundant for the sake of nine unplayed games. Hopefully we do get those matches played, as I'd like us to cross the line properly, but it's the right move to take voiding off the table.

I guess all the clubs that would either just miss out on the play offs, or be relegated, will always kick up a fuss about the season ending like this, which is understandable, IMO, to a large extent.

Hope they don't start legal action, a la Hearts, which - again IMO - is embarrassing in the extreme

may be easier doing it this way:
Premier League:
four teams,Manchester City,Sheffield United,Arsenal And Aston Villa
have all played a game less than the rest of the league
wouldn`t it be easier to let those clubs play that game in hand and then decide?

Championship:
all sides here have played the same amount of games

ideally i am in favour of promoting the top two
if the season cannot be finished

just a thought

Cancelling the season is exactly what has happened in the Netherlands so no champion (Ajax) and no relegations. It also means that the top 2 teams in the Eerste Divisie, Cambuur and De Graafschap, won't be promoted.

I'm pleased that the same won't happen to us if the season cannot be finished.
