I think that, if we are going down, go down fighting. Who knows? Might just change things.

Like I've said on a previous match thread, we are too slow and ponderous. We've changed our style for one reason or another. We started the season by trying to take the initiative now we wait for it to be taken. This seasons change in wagner is like the second season of clark, no longer doing what we did well.
Do I want wagner gone definitely not. But he needs to look and just go back to our basics. No limits terrier spirit. Atm he's setting us up as if we have limits and that we have reached it. We played crap at home to wham, stoke, Burnley and were lucky to have two points out of those games

Being careful against the top 6 and maybe one or two others is acceptable. Doing it against everyone else isn't. When our own fans are cheering ironically when we actually and eventually have a shot on target it's time for a change in the way we play against the majority of teams around us.

Think he knows exactly jjamez. But he isn't going to confirm that our squad is a good Championship squad and nothing more. No point and counter productive. We have got this far, not through quality play on the whole, but more graft and effort. Next couple of games are write offs. After that, we have a number of games in Feb and March that if we can re-find that graft, we have a chance to bag the points we need to survive. Fingers tightly crossed!

Watched the game on Sat. I found it a really depressing watch.
Too many times this season we have hardly created a thing going forward. If we had a proper defence, you can get draws on the back of it. But our defence is dodgy. Thought the whole back 4 were rubbish...Schindler and Zanka opened up at will....Malone was dreadful. Hadyergonads was one of the best players we had. Mooy needs to spend a few weeks on holiday....he looked like he was on holiday on Sat. Hogg was rubbish...doing a lot of shouting and trying to gee up the lads....but he looked the Championship player he probably is. VLP about our best player. Didn't like the look of Pritchard at all. Seemed to be playing with a team of strangers he hadn't met before. Mounie had nowt to feed on. Ince was rubbish also. Teams have found out how we play, and have changed their tactics to counter it. It's not that hard to do. I've said this about Wagner from day one......he doesn't have a plan B. Love the man, but he needs a backroom staff member that has some ideas in how to adapt. He clearly can't. It's going to be a long road to the end of the season now. For the first time on Sat all season, I thought we could well go down. Squeaky bum time.

Dreadful, just dreadful.
No passion, no fight(apart from from one supporter near the end)...nothing. I've thought all season that we'd go down and Saturday that nail got hammered a little further into the coffin. Our biggest problem is the game we have against teams below us...West Brom and Newcastle apart we've struggled against all the teams at the bottom. West Ham..2 defeats Swansea...1 defeat Bournemouth...1 defeat Everton...1 defeat(they were in the mire when we played) Southampton..2 draws Stoke...1 draw..1 defeat 8points from a possible 30, if we are to stay up this has to improve in the games against..Bournemouth,West Brom,Swansea,Palace,Newcastle,Brighton,Watford or our season is over

Surprised by this, thought he was a massive weak link and Stoke played on him - Chupo Moting bullied him the entire game. Impressed with the big bloke both times we've played them to be fair. Harsh to single anyone out though - we're in dire straits as a team at the minute. Hopefully the confidence doesn't take too much of a beating these next 2 games so we can bounce back at home to Bournemouth. Back to basics like everyone has said above - press, press, press and then press some more. |
