Indeed, the statistics are on our side in that 100% of the winners of the playoff in this format have overcome a 2 goal deficit from their home game to win promotion.

On the other hand, common sense tells me we've no chance. I don't even think we blew it as such, Motherwell were just better than us.

That's a fairly straightforward conclusion. Up to the last quarter of this match the Steelmen looked sharper and pacier with superior physical strength. Gers were fortunate in not losing any more goals. There's still a smidgeon of hope but M'Well are a decent counter-attacking side by Championship standards - in order to claw back two goals, Gers will have to come out, take risks and leave spaces behind them and they'll also be without Darren Magregor - an intriguing scenario.

As much as I enjoyed the game last night, the most entertaining moment was McCall trying to get the ball back it was like watching a drunk chasing a balloon.

Despite where they finished in the league in the end Motherwell are a decent side with capable players

Its certainly possible Rangers could turn it round but it`s the same story since they went to League 3, about 6-7 players turn up and 4-5 dont as they think its a given right to win
Reputations dont win games, I hope McCall is able to infuse some of the passion of what it means to play for Rangers into some of the squad who put in a modicum of a shift each week, I think for Rangers fans that must be maddening as hell.

Don`t worry too much about the result, if it goes tits up and Motherwell stay up the SPFL/SFA will invoke the changes mooted and go for a 14 or 16 team set up and get Rangers back into the Premiership.
I don`t support Rangers but it makes economic sense to have Rangers in the top tier - just ask the teams who have seen their revenue drop over the last 3 seasons.

Well if the SPFL/SFA do that then both Ranger and Hibs would find themselves back in the top flight by default, not an ideal situation but if it makes financial sense for the top flight as a whole then it may be worth doing. Not sure when the new TV deal is up, but I am sure the TV companies will want to see both Glasgow and both Edinburgh clubs in the top division. Even though the authorities have done an awful job of negotiating a decent package in the past, having the biggest teams in the same division will at least give them something to negotiate with.

Well i didn't expect that last night! No pun intended, for a poor side they were very effective on the break and deservedly went 3 up. Keystones cop defending, left ourselves a mountain to climb. I know i said we could kill the tie at Ibrox, i certainly didn't expect them to be killing the tie possibly.

Not sure about other Rangers fans on here, but I'd rather go up on merit.

Agreed. If we ever go up it'll be because we earned promotion and that's how it should be. There's no chance and there never has been of the league chiefs restructuring the divisions just to move Rangers and/or Hibs back up to the top flight, and I for one am happy about that.

I hope you're right, El Car, otherwise we may as well let FIFA run the league. Football first, money second, as far as I'm concerned.
Cabbage is still good for you
