The Thai Takeover and what we really want thread!!

SG just needs relegating back to a coach, he is a good coach.

I'd be very surprised to see a lot happen regarding the squad between now and the end of the season. Hopefully, as MS said we will tie down our best players now leaving the rest of the squad with the belief that if they don't perform, they can eff off down t'road come the end of the season.

We can finally operate as a club AND a business. The new owner has a lot of financial clout and no doubt many business consultants at his disposal.

SG should at least get the end of this season. We are heading towards our highest league position since relegation from the prem and he needs commending for this.

We're doing it on a thread bare squad and the worst Hillsborough pitch I can remember. Yes home form could be better BUT our away form is making up for that, our form is opposite to the usual "win at home, draw away". If we carry on like we have been then we'll be heading for top 8 come May

While I agree that it would be great to give the fringe players a run out to see if they are truly up to it, and it would be great to see us tinker with the formation, particularly at home, I cannot see SG doing it for two reasons.  First, he is stubborn, he is rigid 442 and he will try to make that work with maybe 2 signings to improve us.  Secondly, he is essentially in an interview situation now with the new owners, he is not going to be inclined to try too many things that may result in defeats such as playing fringe players!!  He will want to impress the new guy, he can best do this by winning games and therefore he will do what he thinks is best to achieve that, and we know what that is!!! Doh   To be fair to him though, I would not at this point go into trial mode with players and formations if I was him, I would stick to what I know and what I think will work!!

As Thurny said, he deserves to be given until the end of the season, our home form may be crap, but our away form and the form of the defence is testament to his abilities, if only we could get the strikers going!!

As regards what I want, I want us to sign a couple more players, probably striker and CM, don't care if they are loanees or permanent at this stage, as long as they improve us going forward. I want us to go for the playoffs this season, its a big ask but you just never know, so get in a couple more quality players.

Don't care about a scoreboard at this stage, why would I living over here!! Whistle

I do care about the concourses and facilities at the Old Lady though. I am tired of hearing how run down the ground is, for me its an icon in terms of football grounds, with the traditional 4 stands that are different but blend well, but we need to immediately improve the behind the stand experience for the fans. Better food, better TVs showing live football and where possible better access!! I really don't want a new ground, we just need to develop the one we have.

You are correct. SG will see the remainder of this season as another trial & if he is going to fail then he should fail doing what he believes in - 442.

I was saying what we should do, which is different to what SG thinks he should do.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

The only way SG is not flexible is the 442 but we do tend to play good football when we can get it down. At home there's not much we can do on that pitch other than play off the floor but I think SG is implementing 2 different styles for home and away

You said earlier that the pitch at Bumhole Lane was as bad as ours. There didn't seem to be much wrong with it against Tottingham the other night Huh

Sounds to me as if the 'state of the pitch' has become a corporate standpoint excuse for being shit at home Whistle

Besides, if its that bad and such a disadvantage, how come opposition teams come and play on it and beat us, with no practice, when we should have the advantage of being used to it Huh

Utter bollocks about the pitch Angry

Our pitch is ridiculous but we should know that and should have adapted our style long before now.

I said their pitch wasn't much better, which it isn't

The pitch may be flucked but we get to play 23 league games on it and the opposition only get one. We should at least be able to use that to our advantage by being familiar with the conditions instead of seeing them 'adapt' and leave with the points. Our home record is f ucking abysmal Angry
