Sounds like we gave it a go late on with Wells hitting the post but alas, it wasn't to be. Don't think anyone expected us to get owt today, a point would have been good, the next two games are arguably very winnable, 6 points has to be the target.

Next three, ART. All teams below us, Wigan, Leeds and Millwall. Nine points there and we're talking of play offs again. Rolleyes

Didnt expect much in truth and at half time we were very fortunate to still be in the game, they shot and headed wide and cut through us with pace and movement easily. Clayts and Leadbitter pulled all their strings and 2 strong centre halfs shut us out completely.
They missed 2 chances immediately at the restart then we found confidence and belief. Butterfield was superb driving forward and had a 30 yarder tipped around the post, Wells cut in from the right flank and bent a shot that from my seat was going in but came back off the upright, then brought another save off their keeeper with a flurry of late corners.
Tomlin who no longer resembles the fat Posh player fired home and trotted home the winner when we sent everyone up at 94 mins and got caught which I've no issue with.
We need to start brighter next week and indeed for the next 3 games which on paper ( famous last words) and very 'pointable' as our next opponents are as fragile as we can be so lets get at them early.

Can we stop taking short corners though? That was what cost us that second goal and it infuriates me. They, 9 times out of 10 do absolutely nothing with them and we very often lose the ball and get countered.

Have to say Easty, I was more than a little surprised too when Oggy said they have played it short, when Smithies was in their box. Not at all surprised what happened next.

Especially as he actually won the header from the first corner which led to it being cleared off the line to go for that corner.

Dont think half the team knew Smithies had come up, Wells ran towards Butterfingers and demanded the ball to play a 1-2 . Gobern ran level with Tomlin not realising there wasn't anyone in the pegs otherwise could have tried to tackle or close him down with those elastic legs, only Lolley sprinted back to cover but was too late.

I thought Smithies was the referee running back, he was that slow. Laugh

Think Sloppy might be right. Gobern made little effort to close Tomlin down. Think he must have thought Smithies was getting back in time.
