Aston Villa vs WBA - Double Match Thread

As has been mentioned, I also still feel sick from the league game. In fact more so than a knock-out cup game.

My mate, Villa fan, went to the game and texting banter flowed but even he said when it ended 'I'm getting out before it kicks off' - so get home safely Baggies - bloody animals.

Let's move on and secure safety. I'm too gutted having handed them two wins. Scum

Best description of some of them anyone seen mentioned what the punishment will be, can't be running on the pitch during the game.

I haven' t read any of the above, as i can visualise what you thought. However i will have my say about Pulis, and to put on Ollson after a long lay off for what is for us a chance of Wembley is non-sensical. Also to not play Malumbu is stupid.

The result, and this is where i am worried, is that we lost TWICE to a team that could hardly score goals and were below us in the league. It would seem Sherwood has more clout in the dressing room than Pulis.

And three chances to score!! And not one converted !  I hope the players can pick themselves up and want to stay in the Premiership.

End of rant.

BUT as for away games fell free to call me un-loyal or whatever but i'm done with them i won't be going to watch us play like this every other week next season, We was warned what to expect from Stoke fans regarding away performances i've seen nothing in any away game to suggest it will get better...3 points Saturday please Tony to cheer everyone up and shut a few of them Stokies up of course

Tom, since the Premier League started, every game at the Hawthorns has been won by Sjoke so not optimistic to be honest.

Living in North Staffs my son is a Sjokie (sad to admit) and he says Pulis did that four centre backs thing there and we all know how boring cloggers they were. Even though he's probably saved us, I'm not happy having Clueless Pulis as our head coach. His set up for games is unexplainable given we have two pacey full backs in Gamboa and Poco plus he doesn't use Sess when needed. Both their goals came as a result of no proper full back cover.

Although I'd love three points next Saturday, sadly I can't see us getting anything.

To be honest, staying in the league was the priority and TP has performed miracles getting
a side that could barely win at home to beat the likes of Swansea and Southampton. Bar a
miracle collapse, we've achieved that. Anything above and beyond was always going to be
a bonus.

However the Villa games have highlighted our genuine lack of quality. We could say we were
unlucky with the sending off, with Foster throwing the ball in his own net and so on. But the
fact is in both games we competed well, perhaps even has the better openings, but didn't
have the quality to take them.

It's a wake up call. But at least helps to illustrate what we need to do in the summer.

IMO we're carrying a few players....

Brown, despite his performance at West Ham, just doesn't do it consistently enough to be a
Premier League player. He doesn't influence the game, his shots are like back passes and I
don't think he's scored anything bar a tap in with his feet yet. At this level, you have to be
taking chances like today and it's not the first time he's looked devoid of any technique when
having to take a chance with his feet from beyond 2 yards.

As for Craig Gardner, I have no idea how he can keep the likes of Mulumbu, Sess or
McManaman out of the team. How someone can be so bog standard for their whole career
and keep playing in the Premier League is beyond me. His pass to Saido in the first half
when it was the two of them on Lowton was criminally bad and he had all the time in the
world to put the ball on a plate for Saido.

Although Pulis' can be a bit negative away from home, I don't think it was his fault today
that we didn't score when we were on the front foot. I'm just happy that the rebuild will
be for a season in the Premiership rather than one in the Championship. Sometimes weeks
like this can be the wake up call that the club needs.

Good summary Slick, and more or less how I feel after a few calming pints. I don't think anyone can really knock what Pulis has done for us in the league; he's taken a team whose rot couldn't be stopped by Clarke, Mel or Irvine, and managed to push us three quarters of the way to safety by the end of the winter. That was no easy job. But it still involved papering over some pretty big cracks, and this week an abysmal Villa side ripped the paper to shreds. Football is a game of fine margins, and those margins went against us in both games, but a good team should be capable of turning things in their favour with quality even when their luck's out; at the moment, we're not good enough to do that.

A week which will live long in infamy. We learn the lessons from it and move on.

They are not Pulis British. DD  Whistle Whistle

My 2 Cents worth here.

1 How many squad changes ..... in/outs were made in last close season.?? Did they work.??

NO.

2 I`m glad the FA Cup has now been removed from OUR season. Points make prizes and if it`s to be believed every match next season will guarantee £10 MILLION. WE NEED TO BE IN THE PREMIERSHIP.

3 The extra burden of the FA Cup may just be the catalyst which takes the VILE down and out Ala Portsmouth...... Just look where they are NOW.

OK that`s 3 cents worth......... but I could go on.

DD Angry Angry GET OVER IT.

We've got quality in our squad, we need to use it, and we also need to add more quality in the summer and continue to use it. More pace would be welcome. And football is indeed a game of fine margins sometimes, and Villa got the rub of the green on the night, and if Brown and Lescott had put away those two clear chances we wouldn't be saying half the things we're saying now. And shame on those Albion fans who saw fit to rip up seats and throw them onto the pitch, risking causing injury to others. It's just a game of football.

Disappointed to lose last Tuesday?  Yes!
Disappointed to lose yesterday? Yes!
Disappointed to hear that Albion "fans" ripped up seats and threw them at other people risking terrible injuries in a mindless display of stupidity? Yes!  and FAR more so than the two results.  I hope these "fans" are identified and banned for life regardless of what the Villa "fans" then went on to do!  Disgusted with our behaviour; if we cannot take two football results on the chin and behave in a sporting manner to our opponents then there is no point to competing at all.
