Half time Tranmere 0 PNE 1 Barkhuizen

Decent first half in atrocious conditins, Potts should have done better early on screwed shot wide, Monthe for Rovers headed wide from a corner with Hudson struggling and the home side looked dangerous until we gained the upper hand and dominated for the rest of the half.
Earl and Harrop linked well down the left hand side with Earl getting loads of space. Stockley screwed a shot wide shot have hit the target then he headed against the post although think Murphy might just have got a touch.
Bit of fortune on the goal thought might have been a fould after Pearson gave ball away, we won back possession, Potts fed Barkhuizen Goal.
Mass changes will be made on the hour 6000 plus watching on line.

Finished 1 all an absolute gift with four minutes left Bodin attempt ? at a back pass woefully short Payne ambled round Ripley to level they also missed a glorious chance a few minutes earlier when a Hughes mistake let in Payne but Ripley saved well never remotely in trouble although didn't really create much in the second half as for cricket Anderson now on 600 wickets

Feels a bit odd playing three friendlies in a week given we've already kicked of the season, Dyche brings his boys to Deepdale no live coverage obviously Burnley still trying to mask the fact they play hoof ball.

Preston North End 0 Burnley 0

Alex Neil’s side were denied a pre-season win over Premier League Burnley by the lack of HawkEye at Deepdale on Tuesday afternoon.

Just before half-time Scott Sinclair smashed an effort that was headed onto the cross bar by a Clarets centre half, but the ball came down behind the line and then bounced clear, but the officials did not see it and without the technology, the goal was not awarded.

And despite having the better chances on the afternoon, the game finished goalless.

It was a completely different outfield line-up to the one that were victorious in the EFL Cup three days earlier, whilst Burnley had a powerful looking frontline including Chris Wood, Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil.

The Lilywhites started brightly in the warm September sunshine, with Billy Bodin capitalising on a mistake by young centre half Bobby Thomas and almost closing down Will Norris in the visitors’ goal, the former Wolves custodian just getting the ball clear at the feet of the onrushing Welshman.

McNeil, who was surprisingly left out of England’s U21 squad this week, saw a snap shot saved low to his right by Connor Ripley – playing 90 minutes for the second game in succession, but after the first half drinks break the home side were on top.

On the half hour mark, Sinclair saw an effort blocked by Thomas, after a superb defence-splitting through ball by skipper Paul Gallagher and shortly after Bodin saw a right-footed effort saved by Norris.

Six minutes before the interview, PNE’s No.39 was brought down by Jimmy Dunne just inches outside the penalty area and Gallagher fired a vicious free kick past the wall, with Norris making a superb stop, at full stretch, push the ball around his left-hand post and out for a corner.

Just before the break came the controversial moment that could have broken the deadlock. A Gallagher cross from the right was powered deep into the six yard box and headed down by Jayden Stockley perfectly into the path of Sinclair who fired on target, with Phil Bardsley getting his head on the ball, but it came off the bar, down behind him and out, with referee Jeremy Simpson and his assistant at that end, Phil Dermott neither seeing the ball had crossed the line and without the HawkEye system, no goal was given.

After the half-time break it was PNE who continued to be on the front foot; more good play from Stockley – this time down the left – saw him create space, before reversing the ball back to the former Celtic man, but his curling effort was wide of the right-hand post.

With 17 minutes left, some clever footwork from Bodin, saw him backheel the ball from the edge of the box to create space for Johnson and Sinclair, but neither could get the ball out from under their feet and between Dunne and Thomas they were able to smother the ball away.

Jordan Storey – who did well against Wood and Rodriguez, alongside Ben Davies – went close with 13 minutes left, heading a Gallagher free kick from the left just over the bar.

But, as is always the case, the side had to be wary to the last, with Ripley making a good save low to his left with a minute to go, to deny Swedish substitute Joel Mumbongo from grabbing a winner for Sean Dyche’s men, which would have been very much against the run of play.

PNE line-up: Ripley, Rafferty, Hughes, Ledson, Storey, Davies, Bodin (Barkhuizen, 81), Gallagher © (Potts, 78), Stockley, Johnson (Bayliss, 81), Sinclair. Subs not used: Hudson, Earl, Pearson, Bauer, Harrop, Huntington.

Burnley line-up: Norris (Jensen, 46), Bardsley (Lowton, 61), Dunne, Thomas, Taylor (Pieters, 61), Gudmundsson (Goodridge, 71), Brownhill (Elva-Fountaine, 81), Westwood © (Benson, 61), McNeil (Richardson, 81), Wood (Vydra, 61), Rodriguez (Mumbongo, 71). Subs not used: Richter, Thompson.

Referee: Mr J Simpson

Sheff U wiki

Sheffield United Football Club is a professional football club in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, which competes in the Premier League, the top division of English football. They formed in 1889, as an offshoot of Sheffield United Cricket Club, and are nicknamed The Blades due to Sheffield's history of steel production.[2] They have played home games at Bramall Lane since their formation.

Sheffield United won the original Football League in 1898 and the FA Cup in 1899, 1902, 1915 and 1925. They were beaten finalists in the FA Cup in 1901 and 1936, and reached the semi-finals in 1961, 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2014. They reached the semi-finals of the League Cup in 2003 and 2015.

Sheffield United were the first club in English football to achieve promotion from the newly formed Second Division to the First Division in 1892–93. The club was also a founder member of the Premier League in the 1992–93 season, during which they scored the first ever goal of the Premier League era. Brian Deane was the scorer of the first goal in a 2–1 win at Bramall Lane, against the eventual champions, Manchester United.

Since the club's formation, they have played in tiers 1 through to 4 of the football league. They are one of only four clubs to have finished as champions of each of the top four tiers of the football league. Most of the club's history however has been spent in tier 1.

For most of the club's history they have played in red and white striped shirts with black shorts. Their closest rivals are Sheffield Wednesday, with whom they contest the Steel City derby.

Everton wiki

Everton Football Club (/ˈɛvərtən/) is an English professional football club based in Liverpool that competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. The club has competed in the top division for a record 117 seasons, missing only four top-flight seasons (1930–31, 1951–52, 1952–53, 1953–54) since the creation of the Football League, of which it was a founding member. Everton is the second-longest continuous serving club in English top flight football[2] and has won nine league titles, five FA Cups, one European Cup Winners' Cup and nine Charity Shields.

Formed in 1878, Everton won their first League Championship during the 1890–91 season. After winning four more League Championships and two FA Cups, the club experienced a post-World War II lull until a revival in the 1960s. A period of sustained success came in the mid-1980s, when Everton won a further two League Championships, one FA Cup, and the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup. The club's most recent major trophy was the 1995 FA Cup.

The club's supporters are colloquially known as "Evertonians" or "Blues". Everton's main rivals are Liverpool, whose home stadium at Anfield is just under one mile away from Everton's home at Goodison Park, and the two clubs contest the Merseyside derby. Everton has been based at Goodison Park since 1892, having moved from its original home at Anfield following a disagreement over its rent. The club's home colours are royal blue shirts with white shorts and socks.

Two friendlies to round off the strangest of pre seasons The United games kicks off at 2 pm on Friday and the Everton game at 3 pm on Saturday suspect the game on Saturday will not be far off the side that will play Swansea on the opening day.
