Arsenal v Huddersfield Town

Depoitre’s movement seemed a lot better today, was a much more effective target man for building an attack. Shame he couldn’t do more with the header near the end. Some really positive performances, hopefully we can keep that up next week so I can have bragging rights at work.

I hoped we could hold on with Arsenal's front line gunners misfiring first half and we seemingly had done enough but left the Uraguayan dwarf unmarked late on.

We simply have to take 1 of the 2-3 chances we create to give ourselves a fighting chance.

Mounie absolutely class in the ground recording his own chant, applauding the almost sell out following.

superb stadium but full of tourists, empty seats everywhere, they only sang when on top, give me the Town support anyday.

Rough old week, 3 defeats, a serious amount of $ down but hey ho ...let's go ! again next Saturday.

We played really well yesterday but...

It was the right result. The ref got nearly everything right except if he thinks LDP dived then he should’ve booked him. The liner had a mare...disallowed goal should’ve stood

I thought he was offside from the original flick on, Wakey. Obviously not from Zanka's backpass.

Just seen Depoitre's "dive". That's a bloody penalty. Angry

Correct, he was offside from the original ball forward and deemed active by the liner at that point as he challenged Zanka for the ball. The flag was already up before Zanka played a half-hearted back pass to Lossl that he then latched onto. Flag was up, whistle blown and he rounds the keeper and puts the ball into the net. Seen lads booked for that before too.

The flag didn't go up until after Zanka played the ball

When VAR comes in, this will not be a problem as the flag won't go up until the goal is scored. Then decide if it's right or wrong.
The whistle had gone and Lossl clearly made no attempt to stop him. No whistle and he's a chance to save.

Arsenal 1-0 Huddersfield
INCIDENT: Alexandre Lacazette was flagged for offside in the first half. An under-hit his pass back from Mathias Jorgensen to Jonas Lossl allowed Lacazette to round the goalkeeper and slot home. However, the assistant referee had his flag raised and the goal was ruled out.

DERMOT'S VERDICT: Correct decision.

DERMOT SAYS: It is the right decision because when the ball is flicked on by Aubameyang, Lacazette is offside. He then impacts on the defender because he starts in an offside position and assistant Simon Becker has waited because if Lacazette gets onto the ball, he will flag.

Nuff said.
