Blue, its ok to be wrong now and again you know, just admit it. It is nothing to do with the club its a Trust Initiative plain and simple.

Cut that entirely, lower the prices for all those of school age. At 25 you might have been out of school for 9 years, have four kids, a good job, a beautiful house and a beautiful wife ........ letting the days go by, water flowing .......... It's very very unlikely a 25 year old is going to have four kids, a good job, a beautiful house. Most jobs nowadays are part-time or zero hour contracts. Dev don't give the far left ideas. I believe everyone should be treated equally not have being given concessions because of there sexual orientation, race or gender because that's not an equal society. At the end of the day no matter what sexual orientation, race, gender or country you come from we are all human beings and we should treat and respect people how we would all like to be treated. Blue. It's an incentive to attract families and a new generation into supporting Chesterfield FC. They've chosen one game which is the 30th at home to Colchester, it's not like its every home match. I very much doubt that one person will buy 4 tickets for £15 and then use one ticket and throw the rest away all to save £5 as it would be daft. But there will be people out there who will purchase the tickets via this deal and more than likely sell the rest on to make a quick buck themselves and if they do that then they are an arsehole. Also just read that you have to buy and collect the tickets from the HUB in the east stand and you have to fill out a form when you collect them. They could have done a one off deal for everybody in all the stands "Football for a fiver" I remember Charlton did it a few seasons ago against us and think they got something like 20,000 people turn up. They could have done that and £1 from each of the ticket sales could have gone to the community trust.

Me wrong ? Never !
These initatives are great don't get me wrong ,just don't leave them open to abuse from arseholes.

Blue, we can't be ruled by arseholes, town fans or extremists, Islamic or otherwise.
Matt, plenty of 25 year-olds have lumbered themselves with four kids, but haven't got the rest of the stuff from Houses in Motion ..... Talking Heads ..... Rail cards at special prices for Students, impoverished and miles from home, yes! Special price at 24 for a town fan, who has had the vote for 6 years and chosen his own path in life, er no! Rainbow, LGBT price ........? I can hear Pooch complaining about the fake wigs and falsies already. (It'd be like when the Americans lined up to welcome boat loads of Cuban refugees and found Castro had sent them, habitual criminals, dealers and addicts, gays and transvestites tripping down the gangplank waving feather boas and stoned out of their brains.) If they fit, and able at 19-25 they should be playing for Holmewood. If there were more demand to play the game, there'd be more teams, and almost everyone who fancied a game could get one. We spend enough time cruciated or disced out of the game like Pooch and me. When you're 50 do you want to be looking back on that day you got so pissed you wazzed in a mate's wardrobe, or would you like to recall that miracle game where you picked up the ball in midfield, went past four men and scored a cracker from the edge of the area at Shirebrook? But yes I'd do some cheap games for all and there's be bonuses for season ticket holders too!
We do give too much airtime and credence to minority groups in my opinion.
I want it to be a fairer society in terms of wealth distribution.Thats the left wing part of me coming out. What I dont want this country to be flooded by hateful religions and sponging foreigners who have no respect for England (why is it when anybody mentions the word England nowadays it makes us feel uncomfortable, that cant be right surely ? ).Thats the right wing part of me coming out. The Grenfell fire brought this to light ,a stark contrast of poor people living amongst societys richest and hardly any English born people involved.Globalisation has indeed left me behind .

At Chesterfield Adult prices range from £20-£24 depending on what stand you sit in. Concessions (65+ and 17-20 year olds) pay between £13-£19 depending on what stand they sit in. At most clubs around the country someone who is 60 gets in as a concession but we charge concessions at 65. Juvenile prices range from £5-£11 depending on what stand they sit in. Anyone under 7 gets in for £2 in the family sections of the ground. Also if you buy a Concession ticket you need proof of ID and you need to provide proof of ID when you go to the turnstiles or the stewards can refuse you entry if they think you've got the wrong ticket. I'm still young enough to play football at my age and did get asked by a team who play in the Hope Valley League back in June if I would be interested but they didn't reply to my response.

Ask the Hope Valley Team again! Be pushy - I know that's not you, but act it! Remember not all football teams are well-organised, that's why they end up looking for players. YOU my man would be IDEAL, young enough to play, well-organised, clever, mature ENOUGH to run the whole shooting match - terrible job, but you'd be good. My dad ran teams for years. He was great at it. It is also very rewarding ......... but not financially. I've probably said this before but, when he died, there were so many former players desperate to carry his coffin out of respect that they organised a guard of honour standing to attention for him all the way into the church. Being loved and admired that way is priceless, and he was a quiet man, not loud, just wise and clever ........... There are brilliant men in local football. In the Chestefield League there was / perhaps still is a man called Tommy Brocklehurst, lived to 100, gave his life to the game, bloody marvellous man.
If there is no special price for 24 year olds why does the website talk about a young adult ticket for 19-25?

I'll look at finding a team. Also interested in getting back into cricket as well not played since school but I'm still an alright bowler.

Jeez, God knows where I found it on THAT website Matt - re-finding anything is fcunkn impossible. Things roll up as if recent that are months old. Maybe I dreamed it, but don't think so. It was something so bizarre to me I'd never imagined it.
As for playing - you should. And I meant what I said about getting involved in running local sport. Reliable people who can organise and are trustworthy are like hen's teeth. Especially if they are young enough and fit enough to play too - LIKE YOU. A lot of what is wrong with the FA is that regionally it is packed with men even I'D think of as old. But in general, though they might be a bit stuck in the mud, they are people who have given up years of their life to a sport they love, and they'd absolutely welcome an energetic younger bloke. The older ones keep going because the younger ones are either not interested, or have young families clamouring for attention ......... Cricket - first step - find a club that's keen but not brilliant, that is going to have a few winter net sessions. Go along, tell them it's ages since you played and that you want to groove your bowling arm back in. And do it! And football - surely there's local club that hasn't got so much as a website? Why not organise them one? You could do that and it would re-invigorate the place. Go along and watch a few games ..... sign on ....... they'll soon be short ......... run a line .......... anything, once you're there you are part of the furniture ....... even if you're shit at first, not having played much recently, you'll be valuable and you will soon find yourself improving. I think your only real problem is a slight lack of self-confidence Matt! You'd be an absolute asset to local sport in any role. In a few years time you could even find it has become a career. |
