Scottish Cup quarter-final: Hibs v Ayr Utd, 4 March, KO 3.00pm

Yep! Holty had one of his best games and I only wish he had a real predatory goal instinct in the opposition pen box - needs to bang in more goals! I thought both Hibs and Ayr CBs had their iffy passing moments during the 1st half and Ambrose seemed to settle down after that period. I don't wanna be drawn v the Huns for the very reasons that you suggest. Lotsa Hibs fans are polarised after the black post match pitch events of 20 May 2016 and it will be a major security operation to deal with this poisonous fixture. I dunno how the SFA 'fiddle' the draw when it comes to Rangers FC and I don't expect them to pull this pairing 'out the hat'.

At least sevco cannot be drawn at home. Whistle

After the last few weeks cannot see us getting to the final and just hope that this sideshow doesn't mean we take our eye off the only prize this season. Doh

A massive confidence boost = a Hibs league and cup double! Wink On a serious note, I still perceive that a prolific goal scorer is still the missing ingredient as well as the 'Commons factor' in Hibs midfield! I can't be the only Hibs fan to notice the difference between Commons influenced Hibs and post Commons Hibs!! Also noticeable that lotsa Hibs players do 'raise their game' and consequently contribute to a high energy performance. The Dundee United match at Tannadice will be a '6 pointer' that will likely see Hibs 'raise their game' again after almost a week's rest. However, goalscoring is still an issue with me in these kinda games - although Jason is consistently contributing with goals, I still don't see that real predator alongside him who should be converting some of the other scoring opps that arise! I think we could 'stamp a real authority' at the top of the Championship in the next two weeks or Hibs could go the opposite way and leave a 'ray of hope' that United could possibly catch them!

I watched the bbc sportsound highlights of Hibs match and what about that onside run by Boyly, called offside and badly wrong by the AR, and Boyle upended in the Ayr pen box!? It didn't affect the end result but I wonder what said AR actually saw?? I then watch the other QF at Ibronx and heyyy!! The 'big ref decisions' were f###### ridiculous and who knows how this match result would've turned out if the ref and AR had done their jobs properly!!! Ref Beaton slated on Sportscene! The pk was not a pk and the ref was close enough to the 'incident' to realise that fact!! The Garner tackle on Imrie was a disgrace and an easy red card call that would've denied the dirty c### any 'hat trick'! Also Foderingham's clear hand ball just o/s his pen box early in the 1st half was a straight red card and what was the AR doing in that instant!!!? He had an unimpeded view with reference to the 18 yard pen box line!!!!! An absolute disgrace and these officials should be investigated by the SFA for the 'good of the game!! I've actually 'ran the line' in certain schools and juvenile matches in years gone by and never found a prob with this task because I knew the offside rule and also 50-50 vision when it comes to observing incidents deemed inside or outside any pen box!! These incidents really were a f###### joke AGAIN!! Thumb down

0762, you've got some cheek to criticise the Garner tackle on Imrie.  Wink It was nowhere near a tackle - it was a blatant kick at an opponent, there was no intention to play the ball. No wonder Garner was laughing!

Considering Rangers should have been down to 10 men when the score was 0-0 and then down to 9 men with more than half an hour to go, maybe he knew something we didn't.  Whistle

As for the Hibs game, I'd only add that it was a poor penalty from Cummings. Can't we find somebody who can take a proper penalty? And why is he taking all the corners? As our top scorer, he should be in the box.
Cabbage is still good for you

Lol!! True enough re that Garner 'assault'! An easy answer re Jason's CK tasks - Cummings was taking all the corners because Keatings was keeping his erse warm on the subs bench eh lol!!

Hamilton were blatantly robbed yesterday.Beaton was desperate to get his team into the semi finals, things must be really bad at the sevco dome, lose that and their seasons over...little income coming in til may.

See if it really was incompetence like some think the decisions would go against both sides like in the man utd bournemouth game yesterday. As Michael Stewart said, the tackle was just mental, how Beaton thought it was a yellow is beyond belief. He saw it and awarded a yellow, blatant cheating.

Anywhere else Beaton would be demoted,in Scotland he will likely get the final.

There have been some folk on this board who have rigidly stuck to a 'belief' that incompetence is the reasoning behind 'all' ludicrous ref decisions. I partially concur with that view but firmly believe there are some 'bad apples' in the ref community who are not fully impartial in certain matches! A lotta footie fans tend to associate match-fixing with betting scams. I think there are other forms of match-fixing where there is indeed a certain bias applied - full impartiality is not practised to the detriment of an unsuspecting footie club!!! The offending ref generally 'walks away' and nothing more said! The infamous 'Meekings hand ball incident' at Hampden Park (ICT v Celtic, 2015) was a classic example of such a scenario but there are other highly questionable incidents/ref decisions to consider as well.

Yesterday was as blatant a case of cheating as you will ever see in the professional game up here. The SFA and the sponsors want them playing celtic at hampden in either the semis or the final and that is likely what they will get. Up until the goal sevco were not playing well and the game was still nil nil when foderingham should have been sent off remember.

smellick have their best side since o'neill i reckon but they are no stick ons to get the treble with some of the officials up here,we all know what they are about and how they can influence a game. Some of them are downright biased and dishonest.
