Pish first half,as bad as we've played under lennon. Laidlaw didnae look too clever at the goal either. Ayr could easily have had a pk too.
2nd half was better and we probably did enough to win the game pressure wise but you can't grudge ayr the point - they did very well and their keeper was excellent.
Too much thinking about next week IMO. I said in the bonnyrigg thread that i don't trust a lot of these players to stay focussed on the job in hand and thats still the case.

United already 3-0 ahead and they look like they've found a decent striking player named Mikkelsen although Raith's defence is murder TBF!

One plus today was the goal....great left foot cross from the right by Keatings and Jason putting it in the net with a great touch......quality.

We've given utd a 'glimmer of hope'. And that is whats really disappointing.
If we play anything like that next weekend we will get a pasting.

What did you make of Fontaine's general performance today? I thought he was 'mince' v such lower Championship opposition and, under normal circumstances, he'd be nowhere near Hibs defence for the game at Tynecastle!

It was at this time last season we fell to bits. Whatever happens at the PBS we have to get the league points on the board in coming weeks.
After spunking points needlessly today its our mentality that's going to be tested too now.

You're absolutely right Jim. The stark reality of the Jan transfer period is the fact Lenny has not strengthened our 1st team squad at all. I'm hoping Humphrey may still add something to the team dynamic but wait n see eh! Indeed our team is defensively weakened by the loss of Hanlon! D'ya not remember relegation year when we lost Hanlon to a long-term injury - not the only factor but it was certainly one factor that 'screwed' us particularly with McPake 'gone to an injury and op' as well! IMO if we had managed to sign up Kris Commons for the remainder of this current campaign, injuries permitting, I would have been hugely confident of Hibs pushing on to a great end of season charge with that extra 'dynamic' in the team! Yesterday's game exposed the past frailties of the previous Hibs team that lost a 15 pts gap to Dundee United, a Championship team that is definitely not as good as Hibs and that's what rankles me a lot!!! Deja vu watching good scoring opps being scorned by players who should be buoyant with an 8 pts lead in the league title chase but misfiring in front of goal - shot/header past post, over the cross bar, straight to their goalie or saved by the goalie due to no 'killer instinct'! I'm not duly concerned yet and one bonus is the fact we have injured players getting fitter and returning to the team - that should strengthen us a little bit but I'd also like to see a hardened attitude in our games: a steely commitment to win even when shit refereeing decisions and certain awkward games need to be surmounted by a proper attitude and focus on attaining a win v poorer opponents than us!

Cmon guys HFC had not turned into a bad team overnight. Yes we where poor on sat but Ayr Utd come with a game plan and it worked you could see that by their reaction at the full time whistle players jumping around punching the air.
We're still in a very good position let's not be to down
