I am worried about this fixture. They are getting stronger and we are unpredictable and are without key players. Just wish we'd do something positive in the transfer window!
How do we line up against Villa without Fletcher and Morrison?

I echo Beefy's thoughts, not being negative, but when a club needs a leg up, you can rely on the Albion to give them just that.
You know that bag of $hite will come to the shrine, play like world beaters and run with 3 points, its that time of year and they are after a late Christmas present! Don't rule them jammy barstewards out of staying up, they've done it for the last 3- years why is this year any different. Bristol in the cup now looks even trickier, that said, I'd take a loss to the Vile to get a good cup run under our belts with Peterborough at home in the next round! COYB

Personally, if I could chose one game to win I'd rather win the Villa game; IMO those 3 points and the boost that a win against THEM would mean much more. Obviously it would also prick Villa's bubble too and stop them gaining any sort of momentum ![]()

Villa win over a cup run for me

In regards to league against the cup, its always nice to beat the Villa, but I think their dead this year anyway! Only a recovery of epic proportions would see them safe and do the impossible. I don't want to chance fate, but I think that we will be safe this year and a good cup run is always nice. We'll never win the league, but Bristol away and Peterborough at home should have us licking our lips with a tilt at a cup run.
I remember last year before the Villa game, me and the old man went to Bombers dinner at the shrine, great occasion and an honour to meet the man whose picture is up in my office as we speak. That aside, I got embroiled with some older fans who were hell bent on premiership survival and the riches it brings, which I fully understand. Everyone of them was old enough to wax lyrical about the 68 cup win, unfortunately, I wasn't an itch in my daddies panties then and was too late to see arguably one of this clubs finest hours. The point is I was wanting a good cup run and you never know, Wigan won it and look at them now! Last time I looked at our honours list it didn't mention surviving in the premiership in 15th last season or the season before. It clearly stated, FA Cup Winners 1968, call me sad and traditional, in my 30 years + of supporting this great club, my high points are Port Vale at Wembley in 1992/3 I think! The championship in 2009 was it at QPR? The Great Escape of all things. 1 Meagre trophy in that time, if you don't count the play off trophy! I'm 40 this year and would love one day to go to Wembley with my young sons and say one day, " Aye up boys, remember the cup in 20??, what an amazing day, highlight of my footballing life?!?! I must be getting old writing this, I'm sounding like my old man now! Breaking from this, we'll get beaten by Bristol tomorrow and my dreams will be over for another year! I'm not negative, just like a lot of you, long in the tooth with the Albion! World beaters one week and wife beaters the next ![]() ![]() COYB!!

Great post. I'm 10 years younger than you so the greatest moments for me have been the Great Escape, winning the Championship in 2008, and getting promoted again in 2010 at the first time of asking.
I would love a cup run to rekindle my interest after years of behind the scenes shambles, mid to lower table finishes and 'workmanlike' performances.
