Hogg on for Wells. Packing midfield again.
Yaaay. Must be mathematically safe now.

Great result, great pass from Butts to set up the winner and two very good saves from Smithies to keep us in front.
Forest=woeful

Only a point behind the Dirties. If they hadn't over achieved against us (again) we'd be well above them. Beer time.

Fantastic win. Butts with the bit of magic that split the teams apart. Smithies with two absolutely outstanding saves. I was highly critical of him at the start of the season but he has more than made up for the mistakes he has made. Lynch and Hudson outstanding and Smith actually had a good game stifling Antonio. James caught out against Burke who is a very good winger. We gave the ball away far too cheaply, Gobern and Vaughan the main culprits allowing them to break against us at pace resulting in the disallowed goal they had rightly so. MOTM to Smithies or butts but a close call. Really looking forward to brighton now even if I'll be making the 10 minute train from my university house in brighton to campus on my own as the old man is still on the mend. I hope to see the hardcore of hardcore of you lot there on tuesday so you can marvel at the fact that they completely copied our stadium and filled the corners in.

As ELT has mentioned we really did play well, knocked it around well, think Gobern has earned a contract offer at least. Smithies excellent handling in the first half, then 2 superb stops 2nd half. Smith right on his game and Antonio subbed later on he was that ineffective. Burke their main threat, they shot high & wide on a few occasions, had a lot more of the ball 2nd but we still had chances, Miller and Scanz again to fire home in the box but missed the target. Support was good vocal, maybe 800 hemmed into the corner blocks, funny to see Vaughan's dad an ever present in the away support singing his son will tear them apart again as he shuffled off.
Defence has looked strong last few weeks, we still give the ball away too cheaply dont hold up play enough up front ( JV and Wells) to be totally effective but Butterfield was influential,Scanz scored from a tight angle was it Butts flighted cross again? Overall really happy we've not totally got the deck chairs out, certainly Forest had that feel, home in 30 mins. As hardcore/sad as I class myself, I'm going to sit out Brighton next week, just doesnt have the edge to warrant the time & expense and work commitments slightly greater at the mo. Stayed and applauded them off unlike last Saturday, most did and deservedly so. 51 points closing on Beeston, think we can disrupt Derby's promotion push next week on this crest of a ripple !

Pass of the season for the assist from butterfield

Great performance and result, my only complaint is that we didn't get at least one mire in the second half, although I still think we're a bit too reserved attacking wise at times. Forest looked like they had packed in until August. Smith had Antonio in his pocket, he gad a shocker to be fair did Antonio but I'd still have him at Town. The James lad had a good game and we looked fairly solid at the back in general. Thought Oscar Gobern was excellent today, maybe should gave scored. I would deffo offer him a new deal just to flesh the squad out for next season. Vaughan looks out of sorts though. All in all a good day out, just left Sheffield in the train feeling pleased with myself.

What a difference a couple of weeks make
we've gone from no wins in 7 to 3 unbeaten and only 1 loss in 6 consistently inconsistent. we are now also all but mathematically safe, the only way we could go down is if we lose all of our next games, Millwall win all there's and have a better goal difference the swing would have to be 16 goals

I didn't go but watched it live on the box. John Helm was commentating on the game and said it had a end of season feeling to it and was a very "hum drum" game, he did however give us credit for closing Forest down and defending well

he loved butterfield. Had him as MOTM. Also gave great credit to hudson and lynch. Really hoping this boosts numbers for brighton.
