England's 3rd defeat, this time at the hands of Denmark by 4-8, ended their hopes of qualification. They were already down 2-6 after 3 ends and were never going to be able to overturn that deficit.
Scotland had already qualified and played their Quarter-final tie at 5pm tonight beating Hungary by 9-2 after 6 ends. A big score, but it took a score of 5 shots in the 6th end to make all the difference. They now play Latvia at 8am tomorrow, with China and Korea being the other Semi-finalists.
The winners will play for the Gold Medal and the losers will play for the Bronze Medal at 2pm. The 3 Medallists will gain promotion to the main event in Cortina, Italy, starting on 12 April 2025.

Now I've got time to do a catch-up and it's not good news. Scotland's unbeaten run came to a sudden end on Thursday with their defeat to Latvia by 5-9 in the Semi-final. They were tied at 5-5 with 2 ends to play, but lost two scores of 2 shots each to go to the Bronze Medal Game against China.
They fared no better there, losing 4-8, again tying at 3-3 with 3 ends to go. but lost 2 of the last 3 ends to miss out on promotion.
MEDALLISTS
GOLD - Korea
SILVER - Latvia
BRONZE - China
Scotland finished 4th with England in 11th.

It's showtime again with the young men and women taking part in the Championship Finals in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. This will be the venue for the Winter Olympics, so will be a test for the venue as well as the curlers.
In the Women's Event, 10 teams have qualified to play - Canada, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. The 10 teams for the Men's Event are Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, United States. Play will be over 9 games in a Round Robin from Saturday 12 April to Saturday 19 April. The top four teams will play in the Semi-finals on Sunday 20 April, with the Medal Games on Monday 21 April.
Scotland are represented by Orrin Carson (Skip), Logan Carson (Third), Archie Hyslop (Second) and Charlie Gibb (Lead) plus Jake Macdonald (not in photo) as Alternate. Their first game is against United States at 8.30am on Sunday, then Korea at 5.30pm later that day.

Scotland got off to a great start today in two high-scoring games. Firstly they beat United States by 11-10 after being 7-10 down with 2 ends to play. Scores of 3 and 1 carried them through to an unlikely win. Then they beat Korea 9-7 after an extra end in a game that swung to and fro, with neither side dominating.
Tomorrow Scotland meet Norway at 1.30pm in a top of the table clash. On Tuesday they play Denmark at 5.30pm.

Scotland's great start continued today as they comfortably beat Norway 8-1 after only 7 ends. Norway's skip had an almost unbelievable 48% success rate over the 7 ends, making the Scots' task much easier.

Scotland obviously love a good close game, only overcoming Denmark 8-7 after an extra end. They were 5-7 down with 1 end to play and scored 2 to get an extra end, winning that end against the head with 1 shot.
Tomorrow they take on equal top-of-the table Italy at 1pm.

Mouat-itis struck down the Scotland Juniors against Italy with two of the Scottish players only scoring 59% for this game. Italy took full advantage winning 9-4 and scoring 4 shots in the last 2 ends.
Today's game saw Scotland redeem themselves by beating Japan 9-4 after 8 ends.
Tomorrow Scotland play Canada at 1pm with a half-chance to follow Italy in securing a Semi-final slot.

Scotland failed in their bid to secure a Semi-final place, losing 7-9 to Canada. They were in front very briefly, but were brushed aside in the final stages.
Norway did secure the second Semi-final slot and Scotland now have a chance to join them, playing second-bottom Switzerland at 8.30am tomorrow, then bottom team Germany at 5.30pm.
No predictions from me about my hopes, but if they don't advance, then they need to take a long hard look at themselves. They are lying 3rd and can be overtaken by Canada and Korea in the final session. No hard luck stories, lads, just get the job done.

Once again Scotland decided to do things the hard way, losing 6-7 against Switzerland despite managing to score 3 shots in the 9th end. Three of the Scottish team had percentage scores in the 60s, which shows how the team have been playing. Amazingly, thanks to Canada failing to take advantage, this was still good enough to qualify. In their second game the Scots still struggled to beat Germany 5-3 after 9 ends, all the scores being single shots with the exception of one blank end.
Tomorrow's Semi-finals at 2.30pm see Norway v Scotland and Korea v Italy. The Medal Games are on Monday at 2.00pm.
In the Women's Championships, the Semi-finals at 10.00am tomorrow are Korea v Sweden and Canada v Germany, with their Medal Games at 9.00am on Monday.

Scotland's up-and-down form continued today with a loss against Norway by 6 shots to 7. At 5-7 down and lying 1 shot with one stone left to play, they had an almost impossible shot to play. However although they hit the right Norwegian stone, it was at the wrong angle and their own one rolled away.
In the other game, Italy cruised through 9-2 against Korea with 2 ends left to play, leaving the Gold Medal Game tomorrow between Norway and Italy with Scotland playing Korea for the Bronze Medal.
The Women's Gold Medal Game is between Korea and Germany with Canada and Sweden contesting the Bronze Medal.
