I know I would.
Depends what club offered it me though. Footballers are mercenaries who go where the money is and its understandable because they want to make as much money as they can from the game before they retire or forced to retire through injury.
I don't begrudge Doyle moving on to a new club because he deserves it and has played well for Chesterfield, good luck to him, but I am annoyed that we sold him for £750k-£850k + add ons which will rise to a million if the clauses are met. Matty Done went from Rochdale to Sheffield United for a £1 million and he is just an ok midfielder. If we had kept Doyle to the end of the season and he scored 35-40 goals his value would have gone up not down.
I think Ireland have something to do with this. Doyle wants to play for Ireland, Ireland want him to play for Ireland and I think he's been told to play for Ireland you have to play for a Championship or Premier League team.
Looks like West Brom wanted Doyle.

Good Luck to Doyler he owes us nothing and as Dev says we've made him into what he is today so why can't we do that with others.
The best news of all is Cookie signing a contract extension.

Yes Mr Cook's contract is great news, though I hope it doesn't have the same effect as the four-year job had on Sheri.
As a club we are going to have to develop and sell players. Look at the size of the town. We are competing against the likes of Bristol, Sheffield, Swindon, Milton Keynes and Preston, double, triple, eight times our size. We have to find ways of beating them on the field and competing off it financially on crowds that can never match theirs.
It's no secret I'm no fan of Mr Turner. Unlike Paul Cook he doesn't fill me with trust. But he's got it right on the club's website, concerning the direction we are taking. The manager will have to renew, recreate and even increase our success, but his playing staff will and must change. It's good that we only lost The Ginger Costa this time round, but we do need to be up with the game. Though I mistrust the loan market, if it is used with a view to bringing in players on a longer term, it is a lesser evil and I can see some sense behind all the deals we've done.
As fans we have to trust in Mr Cook's ability, but we do have to be realistic. We need the team to keep scoring goals. That doesn't mean we need Mr Cook to keep finding new Eoin Doyles, but it does mean that the club can't afford another Craig Davies interlude, in which the loss of a player equals the end of our attacking threat. It's impossible to know whether we've got it right, but the club has genuinely tried to address the issue.

I can understand we have to sell players because the clubs debt is £8.2 million. Are we going to try and get into the Championship when the debt is cleared or will getting into the Championship bring the debt down?

I think we have to keep trying to get into the Championship irrespective of the debt. We hope to re-pay it as we go.

I would rather see us consolidate another year in lge1 than go up via the play offs. Last thing I would like to see is us come straight back down if we went up and we seriously don't have a good enough / big enough squad for the championship. A few injuries and we are rocking now. Imagine what it would be like if we did go up. Dave Allen has made it clear he wont be putting anymore cash in and I cant blame him. We have a number of fillers in the squad who simply aren't good enough for lge1 never mind the championship.
Rotherham have spent a fortune trying to stay up and we don't have that kind of funding. We need to show a profit this year then push on next year.

Dancing ,I think you have just reiterated what Dave Allen was saying at the start of the season, that this would be a season of consolidation, but listening to Cookie lately he is definitely wanting promotion this year .Who are the fillers in the squad you talk about ? Like I said before the signings Cook has made have been excellent .
I have always had faith in Cook and I'm sure he will have his ideas to make Doyles loss have as little an impact as possible even if we cant see where the replacement goals are coming from at the moment .
Im sorry Dev but Sheridan isn't a patch on Cookie ,who in my opinion will go on to be the best manager we have ever had ,how many managers have got us into this position without breaking the bank (yes I know we have the debt but thats not all down to players wages.).Arthur Cox was next best but he spent a hell of a lot of money at that time and the club almost went bust. Then there was Scotch Johnny, who ,despite his success certainly divided opinion .

I would say Cookie is our biggest asset at the club and a fantastic manager. I can see him being a future manager in the Premiership one day but hope he stays at Chesterfield for a while and long may the success continue.

I never liked Sheridan Pooch. I don't think even Sheri likes Sheri, but he did a lot of things right for us ........ then either took his foot off the gas, was told to ... or even went temporarily insane.
I liked Paul Cook as a player and I like him as a manager and hope he doesn't fall into one of the many traps available. I'm hoping he can help us to cope with the loss of Doyle; it'll be good practice for the summer when he'll probably lose a few more (if we don't get promotion - and I'm sure we don't need to worry our pretty heads on that score too much).
In any organisation you have to be trying to move forward, trying to improve. I admit if I had a choice I'd see us build an even better squad and go up next season ....... but it doesn't work like that. Yeovil went up, tried hard, blew out, crashed and burned round the edges, but look at their relegation rivals Leyton Orient, missed promotion, brought in loadsa money, players used to the Championship and could take down their 4th manager of the season.
If we went up, we couldn't and shouldn't behave like Rotherham. It would be like replacing Doyle; we couldn't get a million pound man in - we have to shop for value ..... in the plain wrappings. We'd stay up and succeed or come down within our means.
My hope for Paul Cook is that if he ever did get us to the Championship we'd treat him better than Yeovil have dealt with Gary Johnson ........ if as we all secretly imagine the club couldn't sustain it.
Best manager - McGuigan.
I'd really like to know the players to chop in our squad - Banks?, Gardner?, O'Shea?, The Hump?, Chapman?, Talbot?, the nutter at left back?, Evatt for growing old?, the two youngesters off to Stalybridge?

Pooch, how about Banks, Humphries, Dawes, Onuvwigan, Broadhead for starters. At the start of the season we just added a few numbers to make the squad numbers up. Dawes could only make the bench at Matlock and Broadhead has hardly pulled up any trees. For a championship squad we would need to get rid of the deadwood and run with a smaller better quality squad to keep us up there. A bigger squad with a number of fringe players would be no good to us.
Cookie isn't spending his own money so if Uncle Dave says no it wont happen.
