Bournemouth have completed the loan signing of Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old was a key player for Clarets manager Scott Parker when he took the Cherries into the Premier League in the 2021-22 season, and links up again with his former boss at Turf Moor.

Anthony also figured regularly in Bournemouth's first Premier League campaign, making 30 appearances, but he spent last season on loan in the Championship at Leeds United, helping the Yorkshire club to the play-off final.

Anthony is a product of the Arsenal youth system but moved to Bournemouth in 2020 without playing a first-team game for the Gunners.

Anthony told the Burnley website, external: “The manager had a massive influence on me coming here, I had a great year under him, and we have some great memories from our time together.

“We got promoted from this league and he put a lot of trust in me, it was good to give it back and hopefully we can create a lot more memories now at Burnley.”

Ajax have signed Burnley striker Wout Weghorst for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old Netherlands international joined the Clarets for £12m from Wolfsburg in January 2022.

However, he scored just two goals in 20 Premier League appearances as they were relegated to the Championship.

He was loaned to Besiktas and then Manchester United in 2022-23 before spending last season with Hoffenheim.

New Burnley boss Scott Parker brought him off the bench in their opening weekend win over Luton for his first appearance for the club in over two years.

Weghorst, who has been capped 39 times, described himself as being "incredibly proud", external to have joined the Amsterdam side.

Burnley have signed Brazilian legend Ronaldinho's son Joao Mendes to their under-21s squad.

The 19-year-old had previously been at Barcelona's La Masia youth academy.

His father won the World Cup in 2002 and the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006, and was awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2005.

Mendes came through the Cruzeiro academy in Brazil before signing for Barcelona Under-19s in 2023 following a successful trial.

Burnley head coach Scott Parker said earlier this month that he would be joining the club as a "development player".

“I feel blessed to be here and I’m excited to take on this opportunity," Mendes told the club website, external.

“The project is great and although the weather is different to what I’m used to where I’m from in Brazil, I can tell how passionate the fans are about football here and I really like the town."

He could feature for the under-21s against Charlton Athletic at Burnley's training centre on Sunday.

The Championship side have not disclosed the length of deal Mendes has signed.

Burnley have signed Brighton & Hove Albion forward Jeremy Sarmiento on a season-long loan deal.

The 22-year-old won promotion from the Championship during a loan spell with Ipswich Town last season.

Sarmiento spent time with Charlton and Benfica's academies before joining the Seagulls in 2021 and he has gone on to make 21 senior appearances for the club.

Josh Cullen has agreed a new three-year contract with Burnley, with the option of a fourth year.

Cullen joined the Clarets in 2022 from Belgian club Anderlecht and has since made 80 appearances, scoring three goals.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder, 28, was part of the Burnley side that won promotion in to the Premier League in 2023 but could not prevent relegation from the top flight last season.

"It’s always good to commit your future to the club. A club that in the two years I’ve been here has really felt like home," he told the club's website, external.

"I’m just eager now to get back to work this season and get the club back to where it belongs in the Premier League."

Cullen was brought to Turf Moor by previous boss Vincent Kompany, with the pair having worked together in Belgium.

He was a key figure in the side that amassed 101 points in winning the Championship in the 2022-2023 season.

But that side could not maintain their place in the top tier and Cullen will now have an important role to play in Scott Parker's rebuild.

There has been a huge churn in the squad with 15 first-team players departing permanently this summer, including many in the last two weeks of the transfer window.

Despite that, Burnley are sixth after four games and Parker has left a positive impression.

"It’s been great," Cullen said. "A breath of fresh air around the place. Fresh ideas and a fresh voice.

"I speak on behalf of all of the squad when I say everyone enjoys working with him. We’re really enjoying it and looking forward to the rest of the season.”

Burnley have brought in ex-Sheffield United defender John Egan on a deal until the end of the season.

Egan was a free agent having been released by the Blades in the summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

The 31-year-old Republic of Ireland centre-half spent six seasons at Bramall Lane, making 208 league appearances.

He has not played since 30 September last year, having suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in a match at West Ham United.

Meanwhile, teenage forward Luca Koleosho has signed a new five-year contract at Turf Moor.

The 19-year-old has made 18 appearances since joining from Espanyol in 2023.

Egan, who has 36 international caps, joined Sheffield United in 2018 from Brentford and twice won promotion to the Premier League in his time there.

He also became captain after the departure of Billy Sharp.

Now he will attempt to help Burnley bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Striker Ashley Barnes has rejoined former club Burnley on a deal until the end of the season after leaving Norwich by mutual consent.

The 35-year-old previously played for the Clarets between 2014 and 2023, scoring 67 goals in 293 appearances.

"It feels fantastic to be back home! Burnley has been a massive part of my life for over a decade, and I can't wait to pull on the Claret shirt again," he told the club's website.

He joins a side sitting second in the Championship and will be eligible to play in Saturday's East Lancashire derby against Blackburn Rovers.

In his previous spell Barnes won promotion from the division three times.

He left after winning the title as part of Vincent Kompany's side in 2023 and joined Norwich, where he scored seven goals in 49 appearances.

Burnley have signed Silkeborg right-back Oliver Sonne for an undisclosed fee on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The Denmark-born 24-year-old qualifies to play for Peru through his mother and has won 10 caps for the South American country.

Sonne made 20 appearances for Silkeborg in the first half of the season and featured for them in the Europa Conference League.

Burnley defender Hjalmar Ekdal has joined Eredivisie side FC Groningen on loan for the rest of the season.

The Sweden defender, 26, signed for the Clarets in the January window two years ago, but he has only played 19 times since then.

He suffered a knee injury at the end of last season, which required surgery and he has not played at all in the Championship this season under Scott Parker.

His only appearance came in the FA Cup win at Reading, so he goes to the Netherlands in search of much-needed game time.

Burnley full-back Connor Roberts has extended his contract until the end of the 2026-27 season. The 29-year-old Wales international joined the Clarets from Swansea City in August 2021.

He has made 30 appearances in the Championship this season for Scott Parker's side, who have conceded just 10 goals in 35 league games.
