Well, those twenty-odd seconds of hope were nice while they lasted.

Not watching (for which i am truly thankful) but keeping up online. Interesting comment from Garth Crooks:
West Brom go 1-0 down early in the game, they have worked their way back into it, they are having a lot of the ball but don't do much with it. It is like they are happy to keep the ball as though 10-12 touches gives you a goal.

All very pretty possession but nothing as per usual in the final third

How is it Pereira gets a red after a 'possible' kick out yet Furlong gets in a ruck with Lewis (?) Lewis lashes out after a little bit of handbags and they both get booked. VAR look and no further action action against the Newcastle player, what is the point???? Then Lewis handles the ball with far more intent than again Furlong (I think it was) who had the penalty awarded against him a few games ago.

For the first twenty minutes we looked like a pub team. Improved later but there is no pace and no creativity and we seem completely unable to put a cross into the box. We have nothing up front and apart from Gallagher (who is the only redeeming feature), we have nothing in midfield. Ivanovic looks like what he is - a 36 year old donkey (nice assist for their goal) - and we are completely susceptible to a fast break.
Apart from all, it’s been an excellent performance

Boring... boring... boring...

My posts calling for Sam Allardyce previously were received like a lead balloon, but my thoughts remain the same, we're crying out for a manager who knows how to get results in this league and give us an identity...

What is the identity of this Bilic team? We look like we're going to concede every time the opposition go forward, we never look like we're going to score, we don't press the opposition...

Square pegs in round holes. 5 at the back means a lack of forward options. Then you've got Phillips at fault for the goal for failing to mark Almiron, but what can be expected when we have a player who has played in an offensive midfield role for his entire career having to cover the full back position. You would think we were injury stricken, yet we have a left back with England caps on the bench...

And to add fuel to the fire, Bilic simply doesn't seem to have the lads up for it. How do we expect to get back into the team if we don't press? If we constantly tip tap around going backwards when we have the ball? Sawyers and Krovi just stand off the opposition looking at them, giving them all the time in the world. Sure, they are both neat on the ball, but when you're losing a game you have to try and engage the opposition to win the ball back. I mean I thought academies taught you that at under 10's.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but how Krovi was our 'primary target' in the summer defies belief...

On a positive note, we had a "spell" late in the half. But I can't help feeling that is simply because a leggy, stricken Newcastle side are happy to let us have the ball, knowing we don't move it forward. Knowing we are impotent.

The best we can hope for now, I imagine, is 1-1 like at Brighton. But I'd be shocked if that's possible given it would involve us actually scoring while not conceding...

I'm hoping for a miracle. Never know, stranger things have happened. But at the minute it feels much worse than I anticipated today.

When our LB is sat on the bench and Bilic puts a R winger in his place what do we expect. Managed to keep it respectable at half time. Gallagher is head and shoulders above anyone else for us. Odd how our best players for the last 3 seasons have been loaners ?
