Defeat at the Death

Everyone will have seen it. We were the better side but didn't make it count. We dominated the first half but only created (& missed) two good chances - Fessi's shot blocked when one on one with the keeper and Abdi's header going just over.

We took the lead when Fletcher cleverly flicked the ball on and Hooper outpaced the Birmingham defence and finished adroitly. We allowed them back in the game when Westwood had a rush of blood to the head & brought down Donaldson to give away a penalty. Despite Donaldson's record of hitting his spot kicks down the centre, Westwood dived out of the way.

We then allowed an injury time winner when Reach allowed Maghoma too much space to get in a free cross.

We are close to being a very good side but we still have weaknesses that stop us being a team challenging for automatic promotion.

We need to create more & better chances. Two or three half chances isn't enough for the dominance that we had.

Westwood - 4
Palmer - 7
Lees - 6
Loovens - 6
Reach - 7
Wallace - 6
Lee - 7
Bannan - 7
Abdi - 6
Fessi - 6
Fletcher - 7
................................
Hooper - 7
Nuhiu - 4
Buckley - 7

Stat Attack:

Goals: 1 - Hooper

Assists: 1 - Fletcher

Touches: 85 - Reach, 77 - Lees, 75 - Bannan, 63 - Palmer, 53 - Fessi, 52 - Loovens, 48 - Fletcher, 43 - Abdi, 41 - Westwood, 39 - Lee, 36 - Wallace, 11 - Nuhiu, 8 - Buckley, 6 - Hooper

Tackles: 5 - Fessi, Lee, 3 - Palmer, Reach, Abdi, 1 - Lees, Wallace, Bannan, Fletcher, Buckley

Interceptions: 6 - Bannan, 5 - Reach, 3 - Lees, 2 - Palmer, 1 - Loovens, Lee, Fessi, Fletcher

Clearances: 8 - Lees, 4 - Loovens, 1 - Palmer, Reach, Abdi, Fletcher, Hooper

Attempts: 3 - Fessi, 2 - Bannan, Abdi, 1 - Wallace, Nuhiu, Hooper, Buckley

Attempts On Target: 1 - Fessi, Hooper

Key Passes: 5 - Fletcher, 2 - Fessi, 1 - Palmer, Reach, Bannan, Abdi

Dribbles: 2 - Reach, 1 - Bannan

Dispossessed: 3 - Lee, Fessi, 2 - Reach, 1 - Bannan, Abdi, Nuhiu, Fletcher

Bad Control: 4 - Fletcher, 2 - Reach, Wallace, 1 - Palmer, Abdi, Fessi, Nuhiu, Buckley

Crosses (Accurate in brackets): 5 - Reach (2), 4 - Fessi (1), 3 - Palmer (2), 2 - Buckley (1),

Passing Accuracy (Total Passes in Brackets):

100% - Hooper (3), Buckley (2), 92% - Lee (26), 90% - Wallace (29), 89% - Loovens (45), 88% - Bannan (67), 85% - Fessi (34), Reach (47), 77% - Lees (64), 75% - Abdi (32), 70% - Fletcher (37), 67% - Palmer (42), 43% - Westwood (30), 25% - Nuhiu (8)

I mentioned last season about Nuhiu's inability to head the ball down and it appears that there has been little improvement and here it probably cost us all three points. Palmer's 91st minute cross was perfect and had Nuhiu just nodded it in, we would be looking at everything very differently now.

Our home form is fine & we will get enough home wins but we haven't got off the ground in away matches yet and need to find 10 away wins if we want automatic promotion. That is CC's challenge.

If we get our shit together, and CC picks the line up we're wanting to see ( drop Wallace and/or reshuffle Abdi in the pack. Start Buckley/Jones

We might, just might put in a good shift and take a point from the Trees. We're not winning that game, I've seen them and I've seen us. they're better at the moment. I knew deep down we wouldn't beat Brum so I opted for the draw, we couldn't even hold on to that Doh

There's nothing wrong with being positive. but one of my mates is on some hard drugs it seems, actually believes we could nick 2nd??? and most certainly take a top 6 spot.

How you can watch us lose 3 out of 8 and barely perform in the other 5 and still come to that conclusion is fantastic. All we have done is solidify our status as a top half Champ team with the past few seasons of Investment. Some have found themselves carried too far away by the over-achievement last season, expecting all we need is a tweak in order to be a top class team in this division.

Nuhiu wouldn't see the pitch if this were the case, Semedo as much as he's loved wouldn't be re-signed taking a squad place when we should be constantly striving for improvement. Wallace, as Nuhiu was last season, is now a player to be phased out by better.
My argument isn't that we aren't improving, its that we haven't improved enough for the goals set by the Chairman.

Personally I'm let down greatly by what I've seen pre-season and now 8 games in to the season. From recruitment to results on the pitch. My standards aren't arbitrary, they were set by Mr. Chansiri last year

Not going to beat Forest.

Wednesday fans generally seem to over react to each result so in some eyes, we have gone from world beaters on Tuesday to hopeless cases today.

In reality, this division is very close and if we can improve by 10% then we could win most matches but if we get worse by 10% then we could lose most matches.

There will be teams that hit a run & win 7 or 8 matches on the trot. Hopefully, we will be one of those teams although to believe we are entitled to be one would be foolhardy.

You're likely right, MS.

I'm not one that believes we're hopeless. I do however, believe we're not up to scratch for the target set. It's still very early on, 38 ( or even 41) more games to go and anything can happen this is very true. Five wins on the trot makes an enormous difference. We'd need to improve vastly for this though.

Starting on the back foot due to various schoolboy errors does not bode well.

The problem at the minute that I see it is that we lack balance. For me Bannan and Lee are good in midfield but when the going gets tough they are weak and easily bullied. Also they aren't defensive enough to see potential dangers like the way Hutch is/was last season.bee need aggression in the middle. I actually prefer Hutch at CB but we need him in centre mid to tackle and bully the opposition. This is one of the reasons I think CC is playing Wallace and Abdi as wingers cutting in to help the centre mid which then leaves the full backs up against it and as a result we concede. How many goals have we conceded from crosses this year already compared to last ?

This then leaves CC with the problem of where to play Reach, Abdi. And where the hell is Joao ?

Agreed with that towinjustonce Bannan and lee yesterday where prime examples of this !! they both had good games and the minute Birmingham decided to come at us after the our goal they where knowhere near the action lee was half way up the field ? and Bannan started giving easy balls away !! but niether are helped when the captain looks like a frightened schoolgirl whos just caught the last bus home with chedwin Whistle

This is where we are all deciding to bury our heads in the sand and pretend loovens is good Doh i must admit i do it because he seems to make lees play better ! but we realy missed the boat here in the summer signings we needed and older better hard as nails centerback buying and we bought nobody ????

Loovens is garbage and hes no better than the rest of the shite quality defenders weve had over the last 20 years Doh he has one good game one bad game gets away with mistake after mistake or doesnt ? and yesterday apart from that second goal his choice off passes where that xxxx bad bannan had to have a word with him more than once Doh hes the capatain ffs Doh

loovens nuhui hunt are just not good enough Doh and then weve got the backroom shite still lingering on ? why is helan bus dielna have i missed anyone still at the club ? i do believe they all get paid very well indeed Doh wouldnt getting rid of these 6 pile of shite players bring in one decent cb be more worth it ?

Other teams get rid of deadwood, why cant we?? I cant believe there is anything in there contracts that stops us from releasing them.

We have only one tackler in midfield and that's Hutch but he usually picks up a yellow card or gets injured.
