MATCH THREAD V THE ADDICKS
If that's doing Ok SCO, then I would hate to see a bad game, apart from the goal, we missed 1/2 sitters, the trouble is there is no passion out there , not one of those players wants to wear that shirt, they just want the pay packet, and that pisses me off, SG has NO IDEA about tactics or substitutions, the one Wednesday player that comes out of every game with plaudits is Westwood, and he carries on like this WE WILL SELL HIM.

My glass is half empty, we should be ripping teams like Charlton apart and not hoping for a win , we should be thinking by how many !!

We are sliding down the table and will continue to do so till MM either finds a buyer , or more probably gets rid of SG (and I don't dislike the guy) for a younger manager with more tactical nous (taking Drenthe off for GTF was a stupid decision).
If a manager is going to stick to a certain formation , then he needs the players to suit, our players don't suit 442 (which it seemed we played today)
More to the point , why get GTF in and loan Madine out , again stupid, if it was a decent forward we brought in then fine , that I can understand.

Westwood is fine , Lees & Loovens, fine (though Loovens sometimes worries me), but the midfield is poor to say the least, and putting our new signing on the bench today, then bringing on GTF and not May is going to do Mays confidence no good . he must be wondering if he should have stayed North of the border.

In reality, we are a team that punched above our weight for a few weeks , and will find our true level around December, which I suspect maybe 3/4 places above the relegation zone..for me , not xxxx good enough ...

SCO, we should have won that ?????? .. sorry, were you watching the same game as I was ...!!

Why should we ripping teams apart like Charlton apart?
They havent lost at home this season and have beaten better teams than us.
May didnt take part because he had a virus and Mattock has an ankle injury.

We had the chances to win it!! Had maguire scored when clean through before half time we would be talking about a win, not a draw!! Its the same problem we have had all season, not taking the chances when we get them and certainly not killing off teams. Yes we overachieved at the start of the season but we have no right to be thinking we should be ripping apart teams like Charlton!!! They have had as much success over the past 20 years as we have and won the division when we were promoted. Sure I want us to compete but not sure we should be expecting to rip them apart every week!!

As for SG he is a 442 man, nothing seems to be changing there and as a consequence we will struggle to score because we create too little!!

We had a power outage on dear old pei for the last 20 mins of the game, so I was napping on the sofa expecting we would lose 2-1. We manged to hold on for that stupid point. Doh

As I go through your posts to get some idea of how the game went, I see post after post saying nuhiu you donkey, carthorse, useless twat?? For the life of me I can't see why SG persists in this bloke who now and again scores (like he had a bit of a spell at start of season) but for the most part is useless at heading and has the accuracy in shooting of a blind dingbat. Meanwhile our $80K striker sits out the game on the bench. Doh

Makes no sense to me. Thumb down

Owlkev,

May had a virus, why put him on the xxxx bench then , either fit ..or not fit !!!, and we should EXPECT to rip teams like Charlton apart historically , that was my point, these days Wednesday fans are too easily satisfied, Ohh, and away point , brilliant , for me ..not good enough, sorry, I expect better from my team, but if you are happy with a very average side, shite manager and tactical dinosaur, then I'm happy for you, enjoy your Saturdays watching crap !!!, and as for beaten better teams than us , exactly my point, we as Owls fans should expect/demand better than the drivel we are watching week in, week out, we should EXPECT to be promoted, EXPECT to win games , but it seems these days Wednesday fans will accept mediocrity, because that's what they are getting used to !!, we sorry, not me ..I want premier league, not a shit 1-1 draw with a small London club, I want a manager like Murhinio , with style, talent and intelligence, NOT a xxxx Brontosaurus like SG.

and before anyone says we don't have the money, look at Brentford, Charlton, even that small inbred village team in W Yorks .. all doing ok now, and we are standing still, if not going backwards, and everyone seems to accept this, WHY ???, why is this Wednesday team and manager acceptable, when smaller clubs with less crowds, money and a poorer chairmen can compete better than we can, there has GOT to be something basically wrong with the club at the lowest levels if we can't at least expect a top half finish, and after 6 games we ALL thought that's where we would be , now , really , can anyone of you see anything but a struggle until the end of the season , because I can't ...

"The result extends the Addicks' unbeaten home record to eight matches.

Had it not been for Vetokele, Drenthe would have deservedly grabbed the headlines with his excellent display.

The forward had fired a left-footed short narrowly wide of the post before opening the scoring with a quality run and shot, Wednesday's first goal in four matches."

(from BBC Sport) .. then SG subs him .. laughable, if it wasn't so pathetic

Ive never expected us to go up with the current crop of players, I said earlier in the season that we are a mid table team at best.
I'm no fan of SGs formation or tactics and that will be his downfall in the end.
We all wish Wednesday were in the Premier League instead of bouncing between the Championship and League 1, I have seen Wednesday win at Wembley, finish 3rd in the league and play in Europe. We all want to see those days again, of course, but we are just an average Championship team, with an 'old style' manager. Cud a new younger, tactically aware manager get more out of the players, maybe.
Do I expect us to beat 'little' Bournemouth on Tuesday, no I dont, and I hate writing that, I think they are better than us which is a difficult thing to write also.

I can't understand why people are so annoyed with today's result. Charlton have a cracking home record. We hadn't won in 7. I think a draw was a good result. Our home results need improvement though. We MUST start scoring more goals. I'm not sure where they will eventually come from. Look where this team has come from... We were the PITS this time last year. We are better off now and can not expect miracles despite the good start. I have 2 things that worry me... our lack of goals (Which SG needs to improve upon if he is to keep his job) AND the number and length of injuries we have been collecting over the last few years. Key players lost for months is not a good place to be. I personally think SG has done a good job... No other TW*T would have taken the job when he did. People say we should get a better manager.. the good ones simply wouldn't come with our current buying power... Does that make them good mangers or good spenders? SG has a squad that are putting in much better shifts, are tighter in defence and play for each other.. the celebration of today's goal shows that. We simply need to score more!! 13th is better than last year and a few good wins would push us back up there. Too early too stress. Just need GOALS..
