Hopefully a combination of extra money, improved coaching and strategy kicking in coupled with our extra stature and prestige as a premier league club will attract more youngsters to us. Wagner will always play youth if they are good enough, but he does not view the current prop bar Jordan Williams as being able to step up I don't think. Don't think we'll see results of the academy strategy for another 2-3 crops of academy kids.

Well just as we were asking the question, he's promoted goalkeeper Ryan Schofield to the first team squad.

Pleased to see that. Think a couple of these keepers might be able to step up but we'll wait and see. I hope Wagner has said to him there is a gap to be filled if he decides to take it.

We seem to do ok with goalies coming through the academy.....Smithies is still a fantastic goalie and was voted player of the season at QPR last year.
I just wish some of the others could make the breakthrough. All we have as a 'success' is Jack Hunt (say the name slowly).....and it could be said he isn't that much of a success story.

Schofield and Williams are the two to watch out for. If Williams stays injury free and keeps developing he could be some player.

Bloody nora! Fifty million Citeh have paid for Kyle Walker sort of puts our little purchasing into perspective.
Or does it? Even by today's standards, that's ridiculous.

We wouldn't have blinked twice this time last Summer. Hoggy might have had to fish him out of the water in Sweden tho' so he could sign. We bring 'em in to sell 'em on. Think we might sit on this one now though to see how serious a bid it really is.
