I used to advocate Pearson and Shakey coming back but Pearson proved to be a prat last season. I'd like us to take a punt on Gary and Phil Neville.

His ostrich press conference rant was hilarious though. It was as if he'd turned into Alan Partridge for 5 minutes, bizarre haha.

Thought nothing could cheer me up on MOTD tonight, but lo and behold, I just saw Tim Sherwood utter the words: "It's no use talking ifs, buts and maybes. We're talking FACTSIES."

Laugh God almighty, that man is a weapons-grade div Laugh

Didn't bother watching today for the third game in a row, and I won't be watching another one whilst Pulis is still our manager.

Still think he will keep us up, but I honestly couldn't think of anything worse than watching us play "football" at the moment.

Peace should be lining up a manager who at least tries to attack the opposition, once he has found one he deems suitable he needs to pull the trigger on Pulis.

I've let it settle down a bit now, and i have the following thoughts.

That WAS the worst WBA game I’ve ever seen.  I live abroad so i streamed the game at home and even had the luxury of the BT commentary.  Whilst the like’s of Robbie Savage and Glen Hoddle are painful the best of times, they were actually spot on in their view’s and said it how it was.

Savage continually commented on how poor we were and how he felt for the fans.  And Hoddle mentioned how the players surely can’t enjoy playing that brand of football.  Both absolutely spot on.

If you had no idea who the teams were, and which league they were in you would have assumed this was a cup game against a poor league 2 side (WBA) and a Premier league side (Palace), because it was a classic case of defend at all costs and try and get them back at home for a replay to earn a bit of cash!  Yes, it was that bad!!!

Not once did we get the ball down and play through midfield.  I understand setting up defensively away from home and if that is the case, play 5 in midfield but with 2 wingers as outlets, playing on the correct wing!!!  How McManaman doesn’t get a start is beyond me?!?  By playing 5 in midfield you can also play Morrison between Yacob and Fletcher in a slightly more advanced role to support the lone striker, which is exactly where every fan wants’ to see him.  Surely Pulis can see this?

As for Brunt…well…ill try and be balanced here.  He won’t come up against many trickier and more pacey wingers then Zaha so it was always going to be a tough day for him and in general at LB, he has done 'Ok'.  But, 'Ok' is not good enough.  I  feel for him a bit.  Great servant, good player in his day, but he is not a full back, and as ive said many times on this forum, he is way past his best and needs to be moved on.  I ask the fans this - If Brunt was at another club, would he be a transfer target  of ours???  And the answer is of course NO!  So why, oh why, does he get a start for us?  It’s shocking!

We have an experienced Belgian international specialist left back in our ranks, who can’t get a look in?  He was one of our best performers at the start of last season and he has a bit of pace.  I know Pulis doesn’t like him – but why not???

Irrelevant of the brand of football we continue to play, and providing we remain outside the relegation Zone, Peace will not get rid of Pulis this season, purely for the fact that the reward at the end of the season (new TV deal money), far outweighs the disgruntlement of the fans that he will have to endure.  He will be happy to suffer that until May.

I believe Pulis will keep us up but it will indeed be at the expense of anything that resembles the slightest bit of entertainment.

Would welcome peoples thoughts on the above please.

Danny I agree with the general thrust of what you are saying but I'm not as sure as you that Pulis will still be here at the end of the season. In his post-match interview Pulis was bemused by the fact that the same team that played vs Palace also played so well against Villa. Well I can tell you, the reason for that is that one game was against a good team, the other game was against a team even worse than us. We simply don't look like winning games whenever we come across anyone decent, and that is going to cost Pulis his job if it continues. At the moment we have terrible football AND terrible results.
I also think the January window is a disaster waiting to happen because Pulis will want to spend big and Peace will (I presume) not be very impressed with some of our dealings this summer. The Berahino issue will rear its head again which will further complicate things, because if he goes, then Pulis will want to spend big on a replacement.

I agree with most your points May68 and i think we will begin to improve on results, not necessarily entertainment though. It's a very dull time to be an Albion fan :-(

I'm wondering whether Pulis is in fact a 'fifth columnist'.

Perhaps all the criticism that we Baggies made of him when he was boss at Stoke now means he is seeking revenge on us.
He's going to get us into a 'nailed on' relegation spot then, at the last minute, resign to preserve his own record.

We seem to have the only Prem manager that makes his substitutions based on trying to preserve a 0-1 deficit.

Baffling... Huh

Just perhaps Pulis got 'lucky' at Stoke and 'accidentally' stumbled on a hardcore group of players that could play Pulis-football...Shawcross, Delap etc.

At palace he inherited a very good squad of players that would make even Sherwood look like he knows what he's doing.

Perhaps we are just seeing a 'below average' manager at work at the Albion.

It's a thought...based on his post-match comments at Palace. He doesn't seem to know why we play like we do... Doh
