"Rangers offered £90k up front for Allan with add ons kicking in when they qualified for the champions league! No brainer there then for Hibs. They would never have received the balance"
Interestingly stubb's thinks rangers tried to sway him from signing for celtic on friday - how does that work when their club had not reached agreement with us ?
I still think they hoped for a best case scenario - can't afford the player but we will get him out the picture at hibs and weaken them. I don't think that's what's gonna transpire though. mcginn is shaping up well and henderson has qualities and a confidence that belies his youth. We also have a bit of cash to spend now too.
Onwards.

Stubbs commented at the weekend that Hibs transfer activity will definitely be happening in the next fortnight - watch this space!

The media are the only ones making an issue of him being a supporter ,the rest of the world including him could not give a hoot. As i said pages back allan was nowhere near the big rangers fan as was being made out. So why did the press exaggerate that ?
Oh yes... because it was all part of a campaign to put pressure on the club to let him go there. Watching them wailing and gnashing their teeth at that press conference yesterday was magic.

hibeejim21,
Scott Allan and most of his family are/have been Rangers supporters over the years and I did say previously that if he was so keen on a transfer to them he would have held off for a few months but after reading all the shit written about him since last week I`ve changed my mind.
If Rangers had been that keen on him they would have stumped up the cash for him. All the rubbish from Hibs about not selling to their main rivals for promotion was pointless because those of us who have followed the team for years know full well that Rod would bite the hand off anyone offering the same deal as Celtic.
As you rightly point out the press exaggerated the whole issue and today have stoked up the fire again by the story that he was not much of a Rangers fan anyway. The poor guy will suffer from that story for years to come-especially in Glasgow simply he accepted an offer no right thinking footballer would have turned down.
Good luck to him, he is now part of our history and we must keep looking forward.

Rangers could not stump up the cash for the deal to go ahead. Offered 90k upfront with the rest to follow in instalments depending on progress through to champions league!. No wonder Hibs said no thank you. That's why they ain't making any signings, all loan deals, they don't have the dosh and the lying King ain't stepped up to the mark. They're getting excited about a paint job getting done at turnstiles at ibrox at the moment but don't quite understand that approx £ 5 million is needing to be spent on the stadium to keep it upto required safety standards to,maintain their football license.

Nobody knows the details of transfer fees anymore supercooper, it's all kept private. What is fair to say is that rangers have spent a fraction of what they did under mccoist. And well done on that score, it was insanity the kind of salaries that were being paid out to him and his buddies.
