Carrot or stick approach? After Stubbs softly softly approach I think Lennons style isn't working any better. Unfortunately the last few managers with a similar strong approach haven't faired so well! .......delegation arriving at Petries door anyone?
I think he needs to learn from someone like Alex Ferguson, probably the best Club manager ever.......superb knack at defending all players on the outside to press etc and obviously knowing when to read the riot act behind closed doors and more importantly knowing which players would respond to this and which wouldn't.........get to know your players Lenny!
I like your optimism Jim. Most sides I see, especially against Hibs, play better after a sending off as it galvanises their play. The truth is if we are as good as people have been saying and the rest are so poor we should still be winning these games at a canter. The main problem is that neither Stubbs nor NL have found the approach and side to break teams down who have come to park the bus. When we do open the scoring we then cannot seem to finish them off and score a second and third. Against Ayr the sending off came quite late by which time we should have been at least three up and not one..........a wee bit of panic sets in and Ayr gain confidence and eventually run out easy winners on paper.
Saturday will tell us a lot I feel.
