The transfer market is like any other market tbf. You say we were part of it with the rhodes deal. I dont think its like that us, bristol, fulham, forest all had our fees in mind, but the player (like anything ie house) is only worth as much as what someone else is willing to pay.
Eg if your house is valued at 400k but someone is only willing to pay 350k. Then your house is only worth 350k. On the other hand if someone came in with 410k because they thought someone else wanted it, then its value is 410k. But no one is forcing you to sell either way
