Carlos is right and unfortunately it will only get tougher as the new Prem money kicks in. This year is slightly unusual because the resources Villa and Newcastle have even without the TV money means they can outspend everyone else already, add in the parachute money and theey are way ahead. Norwich will rely on the TV money more, putting them more within reach, but we really need the likes of Hull, Burnley, Bournemouth, Boro and Watford to make up the teams that come down, because even with the parachute money they will not spend like or have the drawing power that Villa and Newcastle do and will generally be more about securing the clubs future by using the TV money wisely. Realistically we are going to have to find the bargains, the younger players to bring through and the players in the leagues below or abroad who are good enough but under the normal transfer radar for most clubs. And its not just us, aside from the three relegated teams, none of the other teams have spent that much so far and are unlikely to.
FFP is a great concept to stop teams over stretching but at the same time it stops the likes of us doing what Man City and Chelsea did when they go wealthy owners. You would hate to see it becoming a free for all between rich owners as that would just send the transfer prices sky high compared to what they are now, but unless that happens we will struggle to get in the established players and have to hope for the recruitment to find a gem or two that give us that push over the edge.!!
