What a good point and analogy Saint Charles Owl but I think one of the main differences was the fact that Sturgeon was a 'political stalwart in waiting' who was already very highly respected in Scottish political circles and in the country. Also it was a controlled move. This has been emphatically borne out, following that 'switch' of First Minister, as Nicola enhances her reputation as a very astute politician. The eventual Tory incumbent will be a definite lightweight MP and it wouldn't surprise me if this individual calls a snap election because of the NLP's unelectable status under Corbyn. It would be a calculated risk to gain the vote of confidence in England but IMO it still does not change the lightweight nature of some MP who should not be leading the country anyway!!! The shambolic circumstances have created the post, and particularly the unimpressive mess within the Tory party itself!
