What a sad way to exit the tournament.
Joe Hart, deary me he hasn't had that much to do this tournament but when he has had something to do he's looked poor. Last nights winner and the free kick he conceded to Gareth Bale will haunt the lad. Time to give Fraser Forster a chance that he deserves.
Kyle Walker, for me one of the stand out players for England this tournament. Looked fairly solid most of the time and more often than not one of England's most stacking players..I can say the same for Danny Rose.
Smalling and Cahill, we're hitting rocky territory here. Neither of them look great but not many other options to throw into the centre of defence. Left the back door wide open for the winner last night.
Midfield, Dier has done OK...just about and his goal v Russia gets him over the line on that judgement
Rooney, despite the whole should he or shouldn't he go talk before hand I think he justified his place in the team and again was one of our better players. Last night was his worst of the tournament but against Russia he was excellent and should never have been subbed and against Slovakia he was decent.
The rest of the midfield....pah! Sterling...no confidence, Henderson and Wilshire..waste of space.
Forwards, Harry Kane MIA...failed to turn up, given set pieces and was awful with delivery.
Sturridge, not given a chance until Wales but showed class and composure in those 45mins.
Vardy, fed on scraps but like Harry he went missing when needed.
Rashford, one of the few positives but not given enough time last night to show he could change the game, should've been on after 65mins
Roy- after defeat last night he had no where else to go but resign, started the group ok despite a draw with Russia. Everyone could see we had shot ourselves in the foot that night by not hanging on but we created plenty overall. Against Wales pretty much the same but for a soft goal in the first half but at least Roy went for it with his half time subs. Slovakia again no disaster because we were pretty much through whatever the result.
Iceland...shocker, why didn't he throw caution to the wind earlier...and where do we go now?
Southgate...no thanks
Howe...no thanks
Pardew...good god...no thanks.
Overall I've had a great time out there watching the 3 England group games, I've met some good people, I've supped some good beer and I thought the atmosphere with every game got better and better.
Roll on the World Cup Qualifiers and with a bit of luck away trips to Scotland,Malta and Slovakia at least
