As mentioned in the post regarding last night's game, the thing that really stands out for me is the fact that all the players seem to be putting in 100% and I don't believe we've really had that since the early days of Steve Clarke. The dressing room was obviously not the best - as we know there were a few well publicised dressing room/club bust ups & fallouts, and this, coupled with the need to bring in so many players ahead of the new season meant that Alan Irvine had a HUGE job on his hands when he was appointed.
IMO he's done wonders under the circumstances; the team spirit looks fantastic, the organisation in the team is obviously there in abundance, and some of the football we're seeing, with the lovely triangles, intelligent running and deft touches is great. This is being done by players that some of us have thought shouldn't be starting - some of the less technically gifted players (according to some!).
So even if the wheels DO fall off a little I, for one, still applaud JP for appointing Alan Irvine, and AI himself. We're not going to win the league, but the football we're starting to play is in our best traditions; to more than compete against a team last night who's LEFT BACK, FFS, cost twice as much as our whole line up, and show the resolve and skill that we did, shows that we've got an awful lot to commend AI for, even now
