I don't think he's an idiot. Nor is he a genius. As a player he was a water-carrier - he's the same as a manager.
France clearly have the best set of players. Equally they don't look as though they quite know what they are doing. And yes they've been lucky to win both games. In the end the question is whether the manager can provide a simple structure in which very able players can forget their nerves over France's high expectations and win the tournament.
Pogba is obviously good, but equally he has an inflated idea of his own capabilities. Against Romania he created loads of dangerous positions that he then proceeded to waste himself. If he cottons on that he has a superior player alongside him in Payet France will become racing certainties for the trophy. Equally Greizemann needs to wake up to the fact that one well-directed header and a mixture of mistakes and deliberately going missing during attacks doesn't hack it. At least Giroud with all his faults wants to know.
France also has a problem at the back. Evra is very vulnerable and Koscielny goes from looking like Beckenbauer to Titus Bramble without any in-between stages. On the other hand they have Digne, Mangala and Umtiti on the bench who would all get into most teams.
Payet is Iniesta four years ago in my opinion of course.
