The FA also has a mandatory formal declaration required from their refs that states if they have any significant interest in a FA registered football club. That factor is taken into account by the FA when assigning matches - simple and IMO a good piece of pragmatic management of it's ref system. Our ref system is still run by dinosaurs who still don't acknowledge the rightful criticisms of so many different refs for various reasons!

Scottish footie clubs don't generally do Euro footie because they are not good enough and that position will not change dramatically!! That's exactly why they are all involved in Euro qualis now - due to collective failure down the years!
