I believe so TWG - the very games we could use to get up to speed for the European games are the ones we'd be exempt from. The whole revamp of that tournament has been a thoughtless shambles.

Edit: Looks like the dates have changed from last season. We'd enter at the 2nd Round Europa qualifying stage, which begins before the League Cup Group Stage begins.

Still seems a golden opportunity missed to have competitive games before the qualifiers begin. Meh.
