They will have been put off by the prices![]()
IMO we are shooting ourselves in the foot on this issue thoughIf the prices hadn't jumped so dramatically (inflation, apart from footballers wages, has been well below 2% for years and supporters wage increases have reflected that figure) we'd have had at least 25K home supporters for the last couple of months with the football that has been going on. The crowds have been disappointing to say the least this season.
and before anyone harps on about "buy a season ticket then"there are thousands of supporters to whom a season ticket is worthless and a total waste of money
anyone who works shifts for example, people who can't make midweek games due to distance, people who work Satdi's and can only do midweek, other commitments ..... the list goes on.
Basically, DC got rid of our floating supporters and put off away fans in one rash decision
Thing is though the price for this game is the same as this fixture last season, and they brought 4,500 for that game!!! If they only bring 800 fans, that would be a very poor turnout for them even at 30 quid a ticket!!
You are right about our prices though, it's the one mistake that DC has made in my view. I think his view might be different due to the average only being down a few hundred which means he has increased revenue by quite a bit this season anyway, and also he has sold a lot of STs for next season on the back of these prices!! Having said that I hope he makes the tickets more affordable next season no matter what division we are in but if we are in the Championship still then he also has to keep an eye on the revenue and FFP, and tickets are still our biggest income generator.
