The Bastard in Black is Chris Kavanagh (age 29) from Manchester, Lancashire. Notts County manager, Ricardo Moniz described him as arrogant after he gave Villa a penalty in a LC tie when there was no contact (sound familiar?). He was involved in a mass confrontation with Fulham players last season after a controversial double yellow card incident against Leeds.
This season he has issued 87 yellow cards & one red card (a handball on the line) from 24 matches (13 in SBC).
He has a limited record with Wednesday:
Sept 15 - Newcastle 0-1 OWLS - 4Y (LC)
Nov 14 - OWLS 2-1 Wigan - 5Y
Two matches, two wins so maybe a lucky referee. He has a reputation for allowing a certain amount of rough stuff. All red cards that he has issued in this division have been to foreign players.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
