Before we had FF or Hooper there was a greater need for him to score the goals whereas now we are not reliant on him doing that. The fact is he doesn't have to play that well to be effective, sometimes just his mere presence causes the defence problems because it allows FF and Hooper to move around more and creates more space for them. Playing him from the start and then subbing him for Joao or McGeady also gives us a completely different dimension for the opposition to adapt to, or the opposite as we saw last Saturday.
Have been saying it for months - it is the formation that is key. Our best performances have come when we have played 4321 and our worst performances when we have played 442. Hooper & FF are ideally suited for the two behind the striker but less suited as the one up top.
Nuhiu might not be that great but it is clear that we are a better side when he plays. I think we will be an even better side if Joao comes good and fulfils his promise. Until then, our best team is with Nuhiu up top.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
