Always handy if you have a trustworthy and savvy person to remotely access your Pc/device. Sounds like a good idea!
Windows 8 through 10 has its share of problems, incompatibilities and drivers not supporting newer/older hardwares/softwares. Microsoft knew what they were doing ahead of time as the newer laptops are a B*tch at times to replace windows 8 with a more stable platform like Win7, anything prior to Windows8 is now called 'Legacy' so it's clear they're pushing out newer versions of Windows before anything can support it.. Though I doubt it was that causing your WW to fail.
Chrome is better than Internet Explorer for just about everything.
