I know what you mean pei. A 3 to 4 hours drive this side of the pond is completely normal.
I was thinking more along the lines of how SCO explained it. Some people really think London is the dogs bollox (personally I think the exact opposite) and can't imagine their lives outside it. More so, as Charlie also put. A footballer on a few grand a week has doorstep access to just about anything he wants.
Sheffield just doesn't have what London has. Pro's & Con's to both. Depends on the individual
