He was the Scottish U19 captain, and has played 25 times for Dundee Utd's first team at the age of 20. If Dundee Utd didn't think he was worth the money, they could easily have simply not signed him. They got stung for the £204k because they thought we'd let him go for f*ck all.
St Johnstone are doing exactly the same thing - not letting their player go for peanuts. A natural solution will be found either way, and neither club will be unhappy at the outcome. That's the way negotiation works. Dundee Utd could take note.
