Ok I thought you meant I had been inconsistent in what I had said. I've actually been saying the same thing in this thread and across others: that results this season haven't been that good. You're right that dismissing a period of time would not be a fair way to compare managers' career points averages. However I wasn't comparing one manager to another, I was making the point that Pulis' points average this season was not very good, and that looking at his overall average was flattering him. To use a more extreme example, Mourinho's points average over his whole career is obviously very good, but that doesn't mean Chelsea were doing well this season.
Having said all of this, we have just won 2 games on the trot so we are suddenly looking quite comfortable again, but before the Newcastle game we were beginning to flirt with relegation which is what my concern was.
