One thing that may come from playing teams only two times instead of four is a more competitive league.  At the moment Aberdeen and Hearts on their day could beat Celtic, but they are not going to repeat that 4 times over the course of a season.  It might just be what is needed to provide a little more interest in the outcome of the league, at the very least it might make it later in the season before it is all sewn up.
