Wouldn't it be the opposite though?? This season for instance is the 2015-16 season, so the winners of all the cups etc would be technically the 2016 year winners. Therefore if you went to a summer league it would be 2017 calendar year when the next winners of competitions were decided, therefore a league that starts in March/April 2017?? I would imagine that you would take 2-3 seasons by making the league season a bit longer, maybe introducing a January/February break to stretch it out each year a bit more until you reach the new start and finish dates.
