It just seems obvious to me that the way forward for the defence is to go Talbot, Evatt, Raglan and Jones ...... that you are unlikely to stop goals by picking slower players at the back and you are unlikely to find players struggling for pace finding the time to play considered passes out of defence.
It seems equally obvious, though loads of football managers do it, that giving players no obvious route back to the team, or even to the bench, will actually create the useless squad member you thought you might have. It's a self-proving philosophy.
It seems fairly certain our forwards will come up against defenders terrified of pace. Pace and some skill can cause chaos but Saunders doesn't seem to pick games against known slowish defences to select our quickest players.
And yes Pooch, of course you are right. If you've got the ball it's pretty damned difficult for the opposition to attack.
Deano needs to organise his team to get the ball how and where he would have liked to receive it up front. He was a very dangerous forward. If he wouldn't have been happy with the way things are going then that's a good measure of how the team's playing.
