Is the team's true ability reflected in the Away or the Home record? Over a season records tend to balance out - it would be very unusual to see a team with say 5 home wins over the season and eleven away ..... but we're currently heading in that very direction.
On Home form alone the bottom four currently reads Chesterfield, Swindon, Oldham and Crewe, with the bottom two even having a game in hand over us. If our record balanced out by the Away form moving in the direction of the Home then prospects would indeed be bleak. And the trouble with continuing only to win away is that it doesn't bring fans to home matches.
On the other hand, because we are talking about a small sample of games only, win the next two Home league games and we'd be saying 14 points at home, well that's not too bad is it? But the quick turnaround argument works both ways too, look how easily Fleetwood, Barnsley and Swindon have tumbled down the division this season, all three were eyeing the play-offs not too long ago, and certainly all possess several players who would get into our own current best eleven.
