Impossible question to answer (or at least, impossible to draw any meaningful conclusions from), because people - especially when they're neutral - watch football for different reasons, or at least define excitement/entertainment in different ways. I hate the so-called "grand slam games" - and the fact that Sky have taken to calling them "grand slam games" in the first place, FFS - because they're so often cagey and low-scoring, and ultimately all they decide is an annual title race which is nothing more than a glorified game of musical chairs. What would draw me to the telly with interest is if a team like Leeds in '92 could find a Cantona out of nowhere and march to the league title off the back of it, all within two years of having won promotion. Even a Norwich '93 leading the race on a shoestring budget before blowing it would suit me. Unpredictability makes things interesting, but the English game has just about lost it for good.

Unfortunately, there are hundreds of millions worldwide who seem to disagree with me. I'd hazard a guess that most of them wouldn't tune into an Albion game right now. In fact, I'd venture the suggestion that even if Albion were managed by Eva Carneiro in a blue and white bikini, and fielded ten strikers riding around the pitch on wildebeests, most of those people would barely summon up the will to locate the remote control amid their mountains of Man Utd merch.

And that, in a nutshell, is the problem.
